Biz isnt ready for starter minutes yet because he didnt have a training camp his rookie year due to the lockout.

Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Bismack needs the starter minutes to gain the consistency he lacks.
He's always been a 4-5 year project and has come along nicely, I think it's fair to say that we know what Biz is not at this point, but having said that we also know what Biz is at this point (and he's only going to get better)
I'm really disappointed that Clifford called out Biz for his effort and intensity earlier in the season because Biz always brings it to every game and by all accounts is a gym rat.
Having his camps in Africa are no reason for Clifford to be sour on him (for missing time in the offseason) but alas some things are bigger than basketball.
I have a feeling we are keeping Biz under wraps until we can lock him down to a 3-4 year contract and I'm hoping like hell Al walks this offseason.

I am hoping we lock him up for the next 5 years on a reasonable deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't we only have on 5 year rookie extension?
If so we should save it and the 7.5 percent raises for MKG imo.

Are you sure that's right? Durant and Westbrook both got 5 years. Paul George and George Hill both got 5 years.Sik Infant wrote:jdm3 wrote:I am hoping we lock him up for the next 5 years on a reasonable deal.

Me being me, I'm probably wrong.
I'm going to look at what Larry Coon reckons.
I'd love if we locked Biz and MKG up for 5 years.

Can anyone decipher this?
I think you may be right Biz.
EDIT-this says only one designated 5 year contract is allowed -

You can have two but you have to trade for second player(?)

Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
You can only have one player on your roster that got a five-year EXTENSION after their third season in the league, essentially locking them into a 6-year contract. Kemba got a 4-year extension, or a 5-year contract, so he isn't our designated player. Biz is a different case because he will have finished his rookie deal, it'd only be a five-year contract, different from the 5-year extension making it six years. MKG is eligible for it this offseason, then Cody next, etc.
With Indiana, George is their designated player after being extended after his third season. Hill was in a situation similar to Biz: he got the five-year deal AFTER finishing his rookie deal.
OKC is the exception because Durant signed his contract under the 2005 CBA. Durant was never defined as their "designated player" because, under the old CBA, contract lengths were less restrictive. As a result, they still had their designated option when Westbrook was due a new contract.

MJ is a freakin billionaire. He should be willing to go all the way up to just under the tax line to extend MKG and Biz and resign Mo. Biz is the best big on our entire roster and would be our starter if we didn't have a mentally challenged coach. MKG is the most important player on the team and could be a rich mans Gerald Wallace. Get it done MJ/Cho, and one of you needs to slap some sense into our stooge of a coach.

Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
So what I see is extend Biz the 5 year and do with MKG what we just did with Kemba. All the guys would be locked in long term at that point and fit within the rules.

Lol who are you Tom Penn? You know more about this kind of stuff than probably even Rich Cho does.

Thanks, that's what I wanted clarified. I'd love to sign both to 5-year deals. MKG could easily get 5/50, and Biz could be locked up for 5/40 IMO. Even if both have player options, those are great deals

We could do both this summer I think because MKGs would not be a full extension like Kemba's was not. If we did both these this summer at those rates I would be thrilled.

Didn't see much of the last game but it seems as if Biz's rust has cost him some cheap early fouls and then he has to play it too safe because Cliff thinks Biz only gets 4 fouls and it's important that Biz spells Jefferson.

Meh, there were several moments against the Lakers where Biz looked rough - airballed a hook shot in the lane, missed a couple boards, didn't really do anything on defense.
Hopefully he picks it up tonight because Lopez has been coming off the bench and has been showing signs of life.

Oh I know. MJ is hood rich by comparison. Just saying, he is richer than ever and the value of the team is on the rise so he should be willing to spend some money.
