JaVale McGee
76ers planning on buying him out and we are mentioned as a potential location for him.
I personally wouldn't mind seeing him here for the right price.
Having an athletic big man for a few minutes isn't the worst thing in the world. Playing with an elite defensive big like Duncan should do him some good too.

Agreed. Grab him for sure. Career 2 blocks per game, athletic, can rebound. As goofy as he can be, we can use his skills and energy.

JaVale McGee
We can have someone make Shaqtin the Fool
I'm trying to think if he's played with a proper defensive big before.
Duncan was amazing defensively and it's like he wore concrete shoes when you compare his athleticism to McGee's.
If Duncan can groom him and Pop taught him to defend in a team structure he could be amazing.

Re: JaVale McGee
I think he's an upgrade over Ayers, but that's not saying much. We have struggled to rebound this season and that being one of his strengths, I would sign him and give it a shot.
What we really need is for Patty and Tony to shoot even a decent percentage. I'd like to also see if Slomo has anything we could use come playoff time. He can't possibly play point worse than what we've been getting. I'm not saying he should replace Patty or Tony, but if they're struggling, why not make him an option off the bench?

I'm not a fan of McGee but I do agree that we need a player like him.

Re: JaVale McGee
Agree that it'd be great if we can get someone with his kind of talent, especially if we can stop him from doing clownish stuff in the game.
I just think that the days where Pop takes on questionable character and put the team's chemistry in jeapordy is long gone. The last time we had that was with Dennis Rodman. You could say Stephen Jackson but he wasn't exactly an unknown to the organization. They know what they were getting and he had great reputation with the big stars that was worth taking the gamble on.

Rodman was about as close to crazy the Spurs have ever had on their roster in the history of their franchise. I practically remember it like it was yesterday.

By the time he got to the Spurs he was beyond crazy. Its a shame, I met him a few times when he was younger in Detroit and he was a pretty cool guy.

I heard references from Spurs fans here and in the media that Rodman was the man who nearly destroyed the Spurs with his antics. The Spurs did right by dropping him off.

Re: JaVale McGee
From what I've read though, McGee is not that type of person. Far from it.
Making goofy plays on court does not equate to being a cancer to the team.
If you look at how Kawhi played today and add the possibility of a 7 footer being able to be out there with him doing the same, signing McGee is a low risk move.

They wouldn't agree to a player option, he's still on the market!

Haha love that pic
It seems 99.99% of players we show interest in, do not show it back.

Re: JaVale McGee
It seems like it would be difficult for a player to go to the Spurs and feel they are going to make a large impact. McGee has a limited IQ, so I doubt he contributes much if at all this season. However, I'd love to see the defensive efficiency numbers with him and Leonard on the floor together.
