yeah its a weakness but having one weakness is not a problem. every team has one weakness.

The problem is we can't shoot either now. SVG traded most of the steady shooters away. Augustin/Singler/Jerebko. Jennings got injured.

Now we're a defensive team that any hot shooting 4 can have a big game and destroy.

Add a shooter or two to this team and they are still winning. SVG improved the defense but messed up the offensive floor balance. Mario Hezonja is looking better and better.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Last 5 games against power forwards who has taken at least 30% of their shots beyond midrange + 3

Davis 39 Pts
Love 24 pts
Zeller 8 pts
West 14 pts
Bosh 34 pts

Thats 23.8 PPG on 64.2 TS%
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

Some of the blame has to be on SVG. He admitted that he did a terrible job game planning for Kevin Love yet we still continue to hedge on pick and rolls against bigs that can shoot.

he is not the worst but he is bad, doesn't block shot or contest them and isn't a good p&r defender opponents also shoot 54% plus on him. This paired with him not even being a dominate scorer is the problem I have with giving him big money.

Greg Monroe is a better defender than Andre Drummond. Every kind of bigman has dominated those 2. They are just not very good defenders. Pekovic, Vukcevic, Cousins and others score even more easily against DrumRoe than shooting big man.

A statement worthy of that has to be proven, no?

Synergy has him ranked as one of the best PnR screener defenders as well as post defense which is far above Dre's post D.

Per Zach Lowe before the Reggie and Tayshaun era
Detroit A.S. (After Smoove) has actually been at its best with both Drummond and Monroe on the floor, per NBA.com. Monroe is beasting in the post, dishing snappy interior passes, and making smart reads on defense. He’ll never be a rim protector, but opposing ball handlers are shooting just 38.5 percent on pick-and-rolls in which Monroe’s man is the screener — a strong number, per Synergy.

So your statement just does not hold water.

Let's stop this circlejerking and remember who Monroe was before Tayshaun and Reggie that also coincidentally killed our spacing.

Monroe is a center. He would probably play center for most teams in the NBA. It is really not surprising that we're asking a center to defend players 20ft away from the basket and he's failing miserably at it. I actually think Monroe is a good individual defender in the low post, but he is awful at defending guys who play so faraway from the paint.

Against centers one on one, I'll take Monroe. His defense has improved this year. He may be less athletic, but he's better in the low post and plays smarter. Drummond is better on the help defense, but its not just about blocks

It's not all about one on one D either the the center has to have the best help D on the team or perimeter players will get drive at will.

Maybe Monroe's on ball defense in the post seems better because he has Drummond helping and Drummond's is so bad because he has Monroe helping. Defense is a team thing

I still think Drummond becomes a great defender eventually. I mean he looked real good his rookie season and then after that his awareness doesn't seem the same and he's already been through so many coaches at just 21 years old. He has all the intangibles though to be a top defender. He's just got some bad motor issues or something. Because there are some games where he comes out looking like a defensive stud. He's still one of the better big men in the league at opp fg% at the rim isn't he?

Its not that outlandish. He literally allows the opposition to do whatever they want inside the paint and on the perimeter. He has no help side defense, he has no rim protection. I mean, it was all there last night. A really good game to watch all his weaknesses right before you. No 15 footer, no left hand. Not to mention he got blocked 6 times and had 5 turnovers last night against New Orleans which is a different argument, haha. Hes just a soft player.
