Last year the Bulls ran more plays for him to shoot the mid-range (and he was pretty successful shooting it, over 45% from 16-23 feet). This year, and during his improved play, he's usually outside the arc.

On draft night, didn't one of the analysts say he had the best shooting percentages on pull up mid range jump shots ?

We haven't really seen that, he's gone to the fadeaway a few times and has added a floater this year, but supposedly he at least used to have a midrange game.

...where he really is, is as a shooter. He does a good job off pull up jump shots, he's got a really good release. He shoots over 40% on all of his jumpers, but he shoots 47% on pull up jumpers, that's the best in the country. And not everybody can shoot pull up jumpers well, Tony Snell can.

Thibs is galactically stupid. Can barely feed himself. But he is doing the smart thing by developing him step by step. Basics first.

All he was doing at first was missing catch and shoot 3s, playing poor defense and with that, he sat. Then he began making those 3s, and understanding the D.. and with a lineup opening, was allowed to drive open lanes as well. Sometimes off the ball cutting now. Thibs moves step by step.

First time I had even heard of Snell was during the combine, and they talked about him impressive shooting numbers during the event.

Meanwhile Butler will be made to sit in the corner and shoot 3s instead of posting up guards, and his numbers will dip, and people will be mad at his contract.

I've said this before, but in his rookie season, I remember Snell being really good at taking a dribble from the 3 point line off a screen or just purely off the dribble and hitting the mid-range shot. Haven't seen that so much this season.

I'd be fine with Tony just focusing on becoming just an elite 3&D guy that could make the occasional athletic play to the basket.

It goes to show how far Snell has come that we are now not satisfied with him looking like a very nice three and D player but instead want him to fill up the box score more.

While 3 and D is passable enough to be a starter on a great team, it looks like he may indeed get that role next year unless we make a big move or trade in the summer, and if he is the starter next year, he really should be looking at expanding his game.

For a backup role player, he is doing a fine job at the moment, but as a starter, he would be lacking vs most great teams matchups.

While 3 and D is passable enough to be a starter on a great team, it looks like he may indeed get that role next year unless we make a big move or trade in the summer, and if he is the starter next year, he really should be looking at expanding his game.

For a backup role player, he is doing a fine job at the moment, but as a starter, he would be lacking vs most great teams matchups.

It would be nice of course but I don't think its necessary for him to a valuable starter. I think Danny Green is a good comparison. He's made a pretty big jump rebounding wise this year but in the previous three seasons he was averaging like 3.2 rebounds and under 2 assists in about 26 mpg while starting for a Championship caliber team.

fortunately he will have a full offseason to work on those aspects. Also it helps greatly that he is already a hard worker.

It would be nice from him to take next step in his game just like Butler did offseason. We forget our aspirations for Butler during summer were to becoming nice 3&D guy and we got All-Star and best player in team. I dont expect Snell does the same, but It would be nice to see something similar. He has tools, he has confidence and he got playing time, he is hard-worker. He can certainly expand his game. I still want that Snell-Pippen combo workout during summer.

If Snell maintains this, or even improves, what say you Bulls board on such theory?

The jury is still out on McDermott, and counting Bairstow & Murphy as aberrations is unfair in my eyes. With this in mind, and Snell’s progression in 2015, does this theory lose momentum now?

I don't think Bairstow and Murphy should be relevant to this discussion at all. They were second rounders, very few second rounders stay in the league.

Snell has, in my mind, officially made GarPax 1 for 2. Teague was a miss, and Snell is a hit. And Doug gets an incomplete for now, since he's about as bad as Snell was last year anyway.

As someone who has never had any confidence in Snell, I am glad to see him playing well. I love how when he misses a shot, he doesn't hesitate on the next one and buries it. Shows me that he has confidence right now. Good for him, hope he keeps building on this.
