Bobby Portis

Post#1 » by sweetcity » Fri Mar 6, 2015 1:34 am

What do people think of Bobby Portis.... he has wicked size for an NBA PF. Can he step outside and hit an NBA 3? I watched the Kentucky game, he looked good. How's his defense / rim projection been this year?

he's a PF at the next level maybe a C if you wanna go super offense.. but PF would be his main position... he can hit the 3 ball but he's not a bomber type... at least yet...

he'll be good...

I really like Portis and would be all for picking him as high as 14-20. I really like that he's developed a nice jump shot and is just a solid player night in and night out. Basically I think he's a safe pick that has shown development in his game. One of the lower seed playoff teams are going to get a nice prospect out of Portis.

i would say he's even top 5... he's vastly underrated... he is prototype modern nba pf and if he gets on a team with a good pg he could really flourish...

He's a very good player, but I don't think he has the physical projection in his body to be a huge difference maker. He's 6'10 and can shoot, so he'll get a job, but I don't think hell be a starter unless he falls into the perfect situation.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

I think he can be because he's got such fluid form on his jumper.

Reminds me a bit of Patrick Patterson. I think he's a bit taller/longer, but leaner.

+1 I think this is a wicked comparison. I think he might rebound and defend the rim a bit better... and probably grows into having legit NBA 3 pt range like 2 Pat. I see Portis has being a borderline starter for some NBA teams and the first big off the bench for most in the peak of his career

Should be SEC player of the year. He currently ranks 10th on my draft big board. Very consistent effort on both sides of the ball.

He's long and he has some offense and some defense, but I don't think he's anything special. I would pick him late first round at this point.

edit: probably my biggest question mark is his decision making which, at times, is pretty awful imho.

Very underrated right now but I think he's a legit lottery pick with his length and skill.

Ty with a great assessment again, underrated, he's a prime size Patrick Paterson. Shoots better than Patterson. Has good BBIQ. I see a potential All Star but he's not going to be a superstar but he's 6'11 240 with room to get to 260. He has range, he can finish in the paint, he plays extremely tough like Paul Millsap. Long. So underrated since he's not a top tier athlete but he can be a STEAL.

Would love if my bucks traded up a bit to get him. Think him and Giannis would make a good pair.

Not sure that's a good fit considering you guys have Jabari Parker. A good fit for you guys would be WCS or Kamansky

I can see either him of Kaminsky going to Philidelphia with that OKC pick. Both would be perfect as first big off the bench playing alongside Noel or Embiid.

One of those situations where nearly EVERY NBA-fan wants him pick #15-25, which means he is probably going much earlier than that.

As a Jazz fan, I get interested in the late lottery. He'd potentially replace Kanter as a third big.

Portis is longer, but it's a good comparison.

I'd love this guy on the Boston Celtics. Really like his size, length and approach to the game. In Brad Stevens system he can be an impact player on the defense and running the floor in transition.
