You have a really nice smallball, SSOL team. I was a little surprised to see that you put Amar'e at center, though (I thought that you would go with Stoudemire at PF, Rodman at SF, Iguodala at SG, and take an all-around center).

It's an identity. By round 3 the great centers had mostly dried up and Rodman was the most impactful big left. At that point I kind of decided that I have 3 of the most unique talents in history, and so a roster like this could only do with a unique approach. Rodman and Iggy are very versatile players and together they can essentially guard every position, and I decided with their length and tenacity creating havoc I could get away with the smallball approach. Also i deliberately chose guys who are phenomenal passers to round out the cast around nash, and this team is really looking like an offensive nightmare.

Without giving too much away, I am going to run this team 87 Lakers style, with a 3 man rotating front court. I do plan to pick a traditional center, but he's going to be th first man off the bench, and can start if the matchup dictates (there are a couple teams with dual low-post threats, that's going to be a major pain for me). An underrated aspect of my team is that all 3 of my current front court players can pick up multiple positions, which gives me a ton of flexibility, which is really what you need running a squad like this.

Quotatious wrote:BTW - when are you guys going to start selecting coaches? I'm considering taking a coach with my next pick.

I think I'll go Round 7, unless there's a talent on the board I absolutely can't live without on my bench.

II have four players on my radar; I hope two of them are still there when it snakes back to me. All these teams look good so far. Lots of variation too.

Damn you. Roy and Bosh were my number one bench targets. I definitely thought they might be forgotten about. Kevin Love was another. Good picks, guys.

I'll take Dominique Wilkins here. A great talent, still not sure whether he'll start or be the 6th man but I'll figure it out

I'm going with the Bruin-killer, the destroyer of dynasties. There are no drugs or Studio 54 here as well. 1976-1978 David Thompson.

And my team has defensive guys good at man-to-man, but offense will be our trump card. I got spacing, versatility, and my engine works as well off-the-ball as on. We can run with anybody, but I want to utilize my versatility the most in the half court. My 6th round pick is Tex Winter.

I'm going to wait on a coach and bolster my bench depth more here. I still think I have some versatility in terms of finding my fifth starter so I'm gonna go with Jermaine O'Neal. He can play either the 4 or 5 and could slot in at PF against some of the guys that Chuck would have no shot against defensively.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to do it...Winter was a head coach for less than two seasons...I guess the 3-year rule applies to coaches, as well, and you can't take assistant coaches, but we have to hear from giordunk to know for sure.

Are we picking peak years for coaches? I'll change it if necessary but that seems silly.

That would be ridiculous, I agree.
