Priceless York quote

Post#1 » by generaldreedle » Sat Mar 7, 2015 12:22 am

When Anne Killion asked how signing Simpson jibes with "winning with class" York said "I don't know, you'll have to ask Trent on that one." Now that's accountability, rich kid style!

The full quote is even better:
"You have to ask Trent. I don't know what the thinking was," York told the San Francisco Chronicle's Ann Killion at a sports and technology panel in the Bay Area on Thursday night.

I think Jed York's next move is to bring in Charlie Sheen as a motivational coach on Winning with class.

Jed is going (already) rueing the day he uttered that "win with class" line.

The funny thing is that he could've easily spun his answer to work in his favor by just saying "Simpson made some mistakes which he acknowledges and wants to move forward from and we as an organization believe in giving second chances on guys that have put to work in to deserve one."

@jikkle then the reporters would have asked how many mistakes did Harbaugh make that made him unworthy of a second chance? The fact is that he's as adept at running things as his father.

Simpson was the guy who was having Humboldt weed "trafficked" to Cincy, no? He must have flipped on someone because I don't see any other way he only spent a few weeks in jail.

That being said... welcome to the team.

Taking a chance on someone with a troubled past equals being classless apparently.

People are ridiculous

The point is that last year we had a number of players who were in trouble, even though this is clearly an issue where the owner or gm could step in and suspend them or keep them on the bench, York said that the reason for the "mutual parting" with Harbaugh is that he wants to win with class, and it was obvious he was talking about these players. Now they go out and sign someone with this record when York was obviously critical of playing people who got into trouble. He's a hypocrite.

Simpson wasn't on the team last year, he is just looking for another shot. Again, giving a troubled player a chance does not equal having no class.

I agree, but York basically said playing the players in trouble did not equal winning with class, if so, why go out and sign a player with a troubled past? Again, York is a hypocrite.

Did he say that or is that your interpretation? What was his exact quote?

Also there is a difference between having players on the team that get in trouble NOW and guys with a troubled past looking for a new start.

Here's one of the quotes where he talks about winning with class and the off field issues, so why would you deliberately bring in someone with off field issues? http://blogs.mercurynews.com/49ers/2014 ... ith-class/

All we can hope as fans is that management did their due diligence during the interview process because, despite how douche-y Jed can be, the definition of "class" is not belittling or ostracizing someone for past mistakes.

Heck, at least Simpson won't get trafficking charges for weed moved within the state of CA. (You can even take weed on planes now!)
