This is why TJ Warren needs to be getting consistent playing time. If only Hornacek was smart enough to realize this.

What a shame. What a damn shame. Hornacek should be fired for being such an idiot at this point. This guy plays Gerald Green and Marcus Morris consistently over Warren and Goodwin. Green and Marcus have already peaked and they are not good players. Warren and Goodwin are filled with raw talent and smarter than Green or Marcus could ever be in their dreams. I would rather see the young guys out there developing than watch jokes of players like Green or Marcus. Maybe if Hornacek would actually put Warren in before the 4th quarter when the Suns are down by nearly 30 points it might have actually been more competitive. Hornacek has become a disaster of a head coach. I try to give him the benefit of the doubt so many times but his ability to develop young players is atrocious. Suns need to seriously rethink the head coaching position come this offseason.

I hate being a mediocre team, you aren't going to go anywhere in the NBA being mediocre. Constantly getting picks 13-15 isn't going to help your franchise. You either need to be elite with a couple superstars or be absolutely terrible and hope you nab a top 5 pick. This is the current model of the NBA. It's not impossible to build through the draft, you just need to be absolutely terrible like Seattle/OKC was and pick studs.

Well, ugly game but I think they're all going to be ugly from here on out. The offense that was installed in training camp had three point guards and expected to play Tolliver. That's not a reality anymore, there has been tremendous roster shakeup over the course of the year. We're going to look a bit ugly until there's an offseason and training camp to install/practice some new stuff and get some continuity going.

We weren't winning this one with Alex Len out (or more importantly, with Earl Barron starting), so I'm not too salty. I'll choose to be happy about some things I've seen.

First, Archie's minutes weren't great, but they are encouraging. I think he's gone a little too far away from his explosive self. Rookie Archie would have been trying to take Dellavadova off the dribble 24/7/365, but current Archie was trying to fit within the team concepts. If he's going to get a matchup that favorable, he should explode to the rim, or at least get involved in a pick and roll, not camp on the wing and try and be a cog in the offense. Not his game.

Second, Markieff looked good - in fact, he looked like the only NBA player on the roster in the first half. I'll go on record stating that I think the biggest failure of our offense this year is not exploiting his passing ability enough, and he was making good passes tonight. My dream is that next year, he touches the ball more in the half court but in sets that use him as a facilitator instead of a back to the basket scorer. His big to big passing is very good and he is also quite good at hitting cutters (TJ WARREN ANYONE), although he's not super great at passing out to the perimeter (but he was finding BKnight early on).

Third, TJ Warren looks like exactly what this team needs. We already have so many high usage guys, a low usage shot finisher is such a breath of fresh air. The biggest things he needed to work on to get minutes are stop throwing up crappy floaters as soon as you touch the ball (look for contact young blood), play some defense, and get defensive rebounds. I think he's improved enough that he can get consistent minutes.

Finally, I'll end with a crazy thought. Marcus and TJ have some overlap, and both are considered SF/PF tweeners. What if instead, for next year, they focus very hard on getting TJ Warren to be fast with lean muscle and they play him as a 2/3 tweener, positions be damned? This is one thing I want the team to explore this year as we fall further out of playoff contention. Play TJ and give him enemy off guards as the assignment, and see if he can profitably defend them. If he can, suddenly the team has a boat load more flexibility than they had previously. If he can't stay in front of off guards, no big deal, we're right back where we started. It's worth a shot, and if it does work, some extremely interesting rotation options become open to the Suns. It's worth noting that his combine measurables are quite similar to Jimmy Butler, though he is a bit larger/slower. It might not be realistic to expect, but I still want to see if it's possible.

The band of misfits from 2012-13 was actually more likeable and probably had more enjoyable highs (whooping the Lakers and Nash) than these guys.

Something tells me that all of this has something to do with Hornacek's daughter possibly having affairs with some of these players. Would explain why it looks like nobody really listens to him.
