are we still talking about this?

Dont shoot me I'm just the messenger... he asked

I know this is old, but Walsh said numerous times that HE made the decision, not Dolan - and this was even after he went back to the Pacers. Should we really believe a guy that's had a gripe with Dolan since the Houston days or Walsh who was actually there?

The Knicks do not have their own 1st round pick in 2016 (Denver gets the choice of the better pick between their own 1st rounder and the Knicks 1st rounder...via Carmelo Anthony trade...then the worst 1st rounder goes to the Raptors...via Andrea Bargnani trade) and they won't have their own 2nd round pick until 2020. They did manage to get the Rockets 2nd round pick in 2017 and 2019 and the Cavaliers 2nd round pick in 2019. So...yeah...draftniks who love discussing possible steals in the 2nd round can probably go start thinking about another hobby.

So, as of right now, these are all the picks for the next 5 Drafts:

2015 - own 1st round pick
2016 - nothing, nada, zilch
2017 - own 1st round pick, Rockets 2nd round pick
2018 - own 1st round pick
2019 - own 1st round pick, Rockets 2nd round pick, Cavaliers 2nd round pick

Here's a full list (you can see every teams adds and subtracts in terms of picks traded for and away here:

http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

Draft picks the Knicks acquired:

2017 second round draft pick from Houston
Houston's 2017 2nd round pick to New York [Houston-New York, 2/19/2015] <-- Prigioni trade

2019 second round draft pick from Cleveland
Cleveland's 2019 2nd round pick to New York [Cleveland-New York-Oklahoma City, 1/5/2015] <-- JR Smith/Iman Shumpert trade

2019 second round draft pick from Houston
Houston's 2019 2nd round pick to New York [Houston-New York, 2/19/2015] <-- Prigioni trade

Draft picks the Knicks traded away:

2015 second round draft pick to Houston
New York's 2015 2nd round pick to Houston [Houston-New York, 7/11/2012] <-- Marcus Camby trade

2016 first round draft pick to Denver
Denver has the right to swap its 2016 1st round pick for New York's 2016 1st round pick [Denver-Minnesota-New York, 2/22/2011]; New York will convey the less favorable of these two picks to Toronto (see New York Debits) <-- Carmelo Anthony trade

2016 first round draft pick to Toronto
New York will convey the less favorable of its 2016 1st round pick and Denver's 2016 1st round pick to Toronto (via Denver's right to swap for New York) [Denver-Minnesota-New York, 2/22/2011; New York-Toronto, 7/10/2013] <-- Andrea Bargnani trade

2016 second round draft pick to Houston
New York's 2016 2nd round pick to Houston (via Portland to Sacramento then removal of protection from New York) [New York-Portland, 7/15/2012; New Orleans-Portland-Sacramento, 7/10/2013; New York-Sacramento, 8/6/2014; Houston-Sacramento, 9/17/2014] <-- Ray Felton trade

2017 second round draft pick to Utah
New York's 2017 2nd round pick to Utah (via Toronto) [New York-Toronto, 7/10/2013; Toronto-Utah, 7/10/2014] <-- Andrea Bargnani trade

2018 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
Philadelphia will receive the more favorable of the L.A. Clippers' 2018 2nd round pick and New York's 2018 2nd round pick and New York will receive the less favorable of these two picks (via Philadelphia's right to swap L.A. Clippers for New York) [L.A. Clippers-Philadelphia, 2/20/2014; New York-Philadelphia, 10/27/2014]; this pick conveyance is the same as the one described in "2018 second round draft pick from L.A. Clippers" on Philadelphia Credits <-- (shed contract) Travis Outlaw trade

2019 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
New York's 2019 2nd round pick to Philadelphia [New York-Philadelphia, 10/27/2014] <-- (shed contract) Travis Outlaw trade

The Heat don't have cap space this offseason. If for some insane reason declined Whiteside's team option he's most definitely be gone. If they picked up his option, then, at the very least, they'd have early bird rights on him for the summer of 2016.

Deron Williams had 1.5 real good seasons with the Nets just like Stoudemire had 1.5 real good seasons with the Knicks. Hardly great. And then you factor in that Williams 1.5 great years with the Nets overlapped only half a year with Stoudemire's 1.5 great years with the Knicks and you get the question...what were you planning to do in that 0.5 seasons? The Knicks dodged a bullet with Deron Williams. I mean honestly what was being offered for Deron Williams? Lance Stephenson at his worst and Javale McGee?

if we strike out on free agents of note this summer I could see us taking David Lee back from GS and getting a pick or player for the help

they aren't even playing him much these days, not at al in the 4th, very little in the 2nd half, NDP CD last game
they are gonna throw money at Green
I think Lee might be unwelcome in Oakland next year

Hes a strong triangle guy and if we can get some additional value from him I think he would be great. I know his defense is crap but his contract expires after next year so its not a long term commitment

this is of course if we strike out on the big FAs

Because we have a star in Melo and have a top pick coming to develop, we aren't under the gun. I don't give a **** what the media or impatient fans say.

Yeah it would be great if Gasol, Aldridge, Dragic or Millsap took our money. Or if we're able to steal a RFA like Butler, Green or Knight. But it's not going to make or break a successful offseason.

It's all about using our money wisely to progress. Getting talented players in salary dumps and getting paid to do so isnt ideal but it is still a positive move.

Whether it's this scenario, getting a big name, filling out the roster, or some mix of the 3, it's all moving in the right direction.

Good to finally have options in a league where flexibility has become detriment to long term success and contention.

Lee could be a good one-year place holder for Noah, who might leave now with Rose being done.

- Draft Towns
- Use apprx. $28m in cap space on: Danny Green ($12m) and trading TPE for Lee
- When we hit the cap, trade Calderon + THJ to Dallas for Rondo signed at $12.5m
- Sign Kyle O'Quinn with room exception and Gary Neal to the vet. min. both for one year.

2015/2016 roster:
Rondo/Galloway
Green/Neal
Melo/Early
Lee/Acy
O'Quinn/Towns

2016: sign Noah, Gallo, Kobe

2016/2017 roster
Rondo/Galloway
Kobe/Green
Melo/Early
Towns/Gallo
Noah/Cole

Does the Knicks truly have flexibility? They do have cap space, but what they dont have is a roster, so they have to fill that no way around it.

The better teams have a few guys signed that are viable contributors to their teams, the Knicks dont truly have flexibility in a sense because they HAVE to build a roster.

Danny Green is NOT worth 12 million a year and is not getting that much money. And shouldn't.

I like Green but no way is he worth more than 7-8M annually...

I love Neal as a role player on this team.. think we should go after him and CJ watson if we strike out a secondary big FA.

Would love to see us try and Max out Draymond green or Milsap.. Either would be a tremendous fit with Melo and Okafor/Towns.

I'd like to point out that Jodie Meeks is getting 7/year...and Green is better than Meeks. It's not unreasonable at all to think Green will get 10+ easy.

Andrea Bargnani

Post#1838 » by MeloTime » Mon Mar 9, 2015 5:46 am

Since the all star break he has been putting up 16.5 ppg 5 rpg shooting 50% FG and 40% 3 pt

If he keeps up this level of play for the remaining 20 games he would definitely be in consideration for coming back. The triangle suits his game and maximizes his strength. As a 6th or 7th man off the bench he would be essential to a winning team as he can come in and score 10-12 ppg in 20-25 minutes.

I would definitely consider him at a 3 year 15 million deal with 3rd year being player option. At that price he would be great value...

Thoughts ?
