If he's anywhere near or even sniffs prime Ginobilli, then that is absolutely what we need. Might become the best player on our team.

This is similar to the Monroe thing. Jennings/Jackson are our PGs moving forward so who cares?

Im with you on that Dinwiddle kid being the no brainer backup for the rest of the season though.

also i think he's tryign to let Dinwiddie know he's auditioning every game

No offense to Dinwiddle or the guy who are obsessed with him on here, I doubt Stan really cares about the backup PG position with 20 games left. Neither guy is a major part of the future with Reggie & BJ here.

My guess is Reggie gets 5/50 to 5/60 and BJ is moved. I'd be surprised if we kept both - too much $ at the point.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Wait, you don't like him or the tanking?

I hate it too, but a short setback would net us more potential for next season. I hope...

I'd never heard of him, honestly. I just don't know if I'm ready to root against these guys.

Gotcha...sigh I totally understand after this roller coaster of a season.

BJ's contract is short & cheap, the new TV deal is coming with a new cap soon.

I think Reggie will stick with us regardless. If we can somehow keep he & Monroe this Summer & add a great shooting 2 or 3 upgrade we could be a good playoff team next year.

Good game tonight fellas. Jackson absolutely annihilated Mo Williams in the first half. MKG helped mitigate that problem in the second. You guys are a legit SF away from being special in my opinion.

This guy Jackson plays like a hybrid PG, which is a good thing. I can see him being more successful at the 2 spot, then gradually moving back to the 1. #WaitingForJenningsToReturn

Bad lost tonight. I guess I can forget about the playoffs.

He's just not made for today's up and down NBA. Works on defensive minded half court teams, unfortunately for Memphis he was well past his peak.

I miss the Hamilton to Prince transition lob :(

no, we are not.

I think we are a Legit SF and a Legit stretch 4 away from being special. And those moves can happen this offseason.

I am frustrated, because I really can't tell what's missing from our team right now.

A team that was incredibly fun to watch a month ago is now the definition of frustrating on both ends of the floor. Defensively, teams just blow through us and blow through multi-possession deficits. On the offensive end, we go from pouring it on to running out the shot clock and taking desperation shots.

I don't think it's fair to put it all on Jackson, but replacing two starters on a young team mid-season likely has something to do with it. He and Prince are still learning the playbook, and the timing of their teammates and that shows at times. That combined with our streaky outside shooting just seems to be killing our offensive flow.

Defensively, it still seems like Moose is the weak link as decent PF's continue to kill us. I hate to say that, since he's been one of the few consistent factors on the offensive end (minus his FT shooting), but guys just shouldn't be getting into the lane when both he and Andre are out there. Andre has been serviceable, but gets into trouble when guys are regularly allowed into the paint, since he is liable to get whistled for contact.

That feeds into the poor offensive showing, since we aren't getting many transition opportunities.

Ultimately, all of this speculation is pretty pointless, at least when it comes to this season. We're 6 games out of the playoffs now, and I don't see any point or possibility of turning the corner. It's time to turn up the tank, and see what we can nab in the draft to help nab a player who can help us address some of these glaring holes.

Eight million isn't cheap for a backup point guard even with the rising cap, IMO. I also wonder if BJ is ready to accept that kind of role.

We were paying a backup to the backup PF $8 million last season.

It's one season, and gives us time to evaluate Jennings long term potential after that devastating injury. Nobody is going to give Detroit anything of value for him until they see him play again.

Dinwiddie was a second round pick. If he becomes a productive role player, that's basically like winning $50 on a $1 scratch off. You expected nothing, and got more than you expected. Most first round picks flop, even more second round picks flop or never even step on an NBA court before they're out of the league.
