He's literally the only player the Lakers fan like on the team.

Him and Ed Davis. Only really solid young players they have playing meaningful minutes. The rest of that roster is mis-utilized garbage (they have an outdated dinosaur for a coach as well).

I had to do this 18-months ago here to get people in Milwaukee at least talking about things.

http://saveourbucks.com/how-bad-have-th ... -recently/

Obviously our situation was more dire because we faced relocation. But I really think if you delved into Ernie's career and did a thoughtful (not bomb throwing) website pointing out his year by year records and compared it to other GM's you'd be amazed how powerful it is. And compare his W-L record (regular season and playoffs) versus other GM's who have held that title in the NBA for 15-years or more.

Then have a page where you highlight the 20-years of trades he's made. I guarantee there will be a list of stinkers in there.

I realize you guys all know anecdotally what the story is. But sometimes you need to lead the media to the water first. Then they will take a drink.

I've never seen a 20-year breakout, but a few of our guys have posted some good breakouts of EG's tenure with us and compared his W vs L against other teams in the East. It would be nice to present actual charts and graphs of his 20 year "work" to our sad excuse of an owner.

The key is one of you guys needs to sit down and chart this all out. We sat and bitched about all this stuff as it relates to the Bucks over on our board for years. Finally I just invested two months of my time on weekends and did the analysis and wrote it all out over at saveourbucks.com

If you guys really want Grunfeld out, one of you needs to sit down and do the charts and get it up on a website. That way the national media like Bill Simmons, Matt Moore, Dwyer, etc will pick up on it. Otherwise the fans will just anecdotally complain but nothing will happen.

It would be very powerful to see the records of Grunfeld's Knicks, Bucks and Wizards teams year by year along with playoff performances on one page. Then a second page that lists out the Wizards W-L record since 2003 versus the rest of the league.

Then another chart listing all the league's GM's by tenure. On that chart Ernie is going to show the 4th or 5th longest tenure and the only guys ahead of him (Pat Riley, Kupchak, etc) have all won titles. Then do a final page showing all the major transactions in the Ernie era and subjectively grade whether or not the Wizards won or lost the trade.

This could be really powerful if you guys assigned out different tasks to each other and had a web savvy guy who could set up a quick website along the lines of "No Wizards Magic - The Ernie Grunfeld Years" or something like that.

I just lost my lunch. Was Grunfeld giving J. Michael a reach around while he was typing this up?

I've mentioned this in the past, but what I'd really love to see one of those days is a breakdown of cap dollars spent per win.

Obviously to shine a light on Grunfeld's work, but also to see how he stacked up to the rest of the league throughout his tenure.

You know, with how Leonsis has been operating, I wouldn't be surprised if Grunfeld already got an extension and they're waiting with the announcement until the season is over.

Is EG on vacation or something ?

To date, since the season started we have made two moves. We cut Glen Rice ( who we should have never drafted to start with) and we traded Miller for Sessions.

Pretty frustrating where this team is right now. It didn't have to be like this. They could have adjusted the roster by doing lots of things.

I would be curious. Is that the least activity of any team in the league ?

How much does he get paid a year again ?

So what would you do at this point to make them better. Kind of tough with the trade deadline passed.

Cut Blair ?
Cut Kevin ?

One of them needs to go and neither needs to play that often.

That would give them two open roster spots.

Nene, Gortat, Gooden, Hump is enough, specially if you add a Khem energy guy.

I think with an infusion of two young players, they would could find their mojo again. While Sessions isn't a great player, I do feel like he has helped in that direction. But they need more of that. They need to mix things up.

Chris Johnson is now gone. Nate is gone.

Siva, Stockton, Khem, Blue, DJ Seeley are still out there.

Disagree on cut Blair. He's been good elsewhere and costs very little.

If Wittman were fired I almost guarantee that Newman would play Blair more.

Agreed. You trade Seraphin. Seraphin's reputation around the league is higher than his actual value. He's the player other GM's have been inquiring about but Ernie is such a potato he refuses to trade him.

Someplace or another (probably here back when I was Nivek) I...umm...critiqued J. Michael's piece when it came out. It was not entirely accurate in terms of its facts.

If I am Ted, right now I am trying to figure out how I am going to start the search for my new GM and what parts (if not all) of the FO I am going to replace.

I think at this point the moves available are so limited as to not be worthwhile. The new FO will be in a bit of a box next year with $71,455,267 already committed assuming PP and Temple return. That means they will probably only have the MLE, Bi-Annual and draft pick to really make a difference. Nobody is taking Webster. We want to let Nene's contract expire to have a shot at Durant.

So next year you have:

Wall, Sessions
Beal, Temple
Porter, Pierce, Webster
Nene, Humphries
Gortat, Blair

If Beal and Porter don't break out we are hosed. We need a backup PG in the worst way. Pierce needs to flop between backup SF and Stretch 4 or we are hosed. If we could move Sessions + Blair for something, great but doubtful.

Thinking that Checkers could pick the right player + pick the right MLE + pick the right Bi-Annual and not give up picks - I go back to that IF I am Ted, right now I am trying to figure out how I am going to start the search for my new GM and what parts (if not all) of the FO I am going to replace.

And I do agree with your post - given our box, EG should have been much more active in the market this year - maybe Ted has him on a leash - in that case, good for Ted.

Wall has never looked to leave. He's committed to the city (esp with it being the city his late father is from) and turning around the franchise.

The problem is... Grunfeld and continues to be Grunfeld.

I don't mind Gortat, Nene, or Paul Pierce. What I hate is this GM continuously squanders picks and never uses all avenues to make the roster better. He is lazy and content to sit on his ass. It's infuriating. I was hoping the Heat's D-Leaguers could have mounted that comeback last week to show this damn management that you can find players in the D-League who are young and help out.
