I think we're on the right track now... certainly this could be one of the worst years to have free cap $s... next year will not be better for us... I believe I read that only 7 teams will have less than max money to spend in 2016.
Since we're not a major market or at a cap advantage the best course may be to use our space for trades.

We should really go after Amir Johnson this offseason. Good defensive big who can guard centers or power forwards, veteran, former Pistons, and best of all he can shoot the ball. Perfect fit and would weaken a conference rival. Pay the guy.

We need to lock up Drummond with the rookie max extension. Cap is making a 33% jump. Meaning we will essentially be getting him at 33% off.

No you're not. Rookie max extensions are based off a percentage, not a fixed number. They won't get any kind of discount.

The contract Klay Thompson was at the max rate, but not designated as a "max contract", so it won't increase with the cap.

I want to S&T Monroe for Draymond and give Tobias Harris his full max. They seem to be prefect complements to each other and for what we need, both can stretch the floor and play the hybrid 3/4 positions.

Drummond
Green
Harris
KCP
Jackson

BPA- pick 6-9

This! Would be our dream scenario. Monroe played pretty well last night so maybe he wants to go there.
Then our bench would be Jennings Meeks Lottery pick and Tolliver

i may be wrong but i don't believe we can sign and trade greg for another player who would be getting signed and then traded.

then again, greg isn't an rfa so i think im wrong. heh

That would certainly be the kind of team SVG has enjoyed fielding in the past. Harris has shot the 3-ball really well this year, 37%. Up quite a bit from his career average of 31%. He can also put the ball on the floor a little bit and create his own shot. That's on top of the fact that he has the length to at least bother players like LeBron, Carmello and PG13. He's not regarded as much of a defender now, but you will play defense if you play for Stan Van Gundy.

Green, there's zero chance GSW is interested in doing a sign and trade for Monroe when they already have David Lee. They would just keep Green is all pay is equal and they want to pay the luxury tax. But, I agree, his rangey offense would definitely space the floor better for RJ and Drummond to run pick and rolls with a lot more opportunities for kick out passes.

I think the possibility of a sign and trade with New Orleans for Ryan Anderson is more likely, as Moose seems to get connected to the Pelicans quite a bit in FA rumors. Anderson isn't the overall player that Green is, obviously.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the free agents this summer sign one year deals knowing they will likely get a lot more money next summer. If this is the case, maybe we could have a shot at a LMA or someone else substantial on just a one year deal.

OK so in my opinion i'm going to list some free agents we (well, SVG and management) should consider signing. I really don't think moose is coming back, so i'll start by listing what I think some priorities are: backup C, starting PF, and wing talent/depth. let me get started!

Backup C:
Brandan Wright (UFA)
- really not many (good) options out there but Brandan wright would be perfect. he could play ~18-20 minutes behind Drummond without complaint and he is not only a good rim protector but he is also great at finishing at the rim. he's a career 60% shooter from the field including a ridiculous 75% when he was on dallas at the beginning of the year. could probably be had in the $5-6 million range and I think he would be well worth it.

Ed Davis (Player Option)
- would be a decent consolation to Brandan wright, he played a good amount of center with the raps but has played PF almost exclusively with the grizz/lakers. he has a player option for next year for about $1 million so I could definitely see him opting out of that. could probably be had for $3-5 million.

PF:
Paul Millsap (UFA)
- would be awesome but expensive but the point is moot as Atlanta can easily re-sign him and he'd be silly to leave a contender.

Draymond Green (RFA)
- he would be an awesome fit, though he would be expensive. the warriors owner said the team would be willing to go into the luxury tax bracket because they have a contender, but matching any offer green gets will be very pricey. they are only a little short of the luxury tax this year and next year klay's extension kicks in. the preliminary projection for the 2015-2016 luxury threshold is ~$81 million, and as of now the warriors would have $83 million on the books. they'd have to shed some massive salary (pretty much lee's $15 million) to make matching green's offers feasible in any way. that said, we could throw $13-15 million his way and see what happens. don't hold your breath though, as most teams with cap space will be testing the warriors.

Thad Young (Player Option)
- the player option says it all, as he would have to choose to leave Brooklyn and ~$10 million behind before he becomes available. I think he likely picks up the option, makes $10 million next year and cashes in when the cap goes up after next season. it's a shame too, as he could be great on the pistons. could probably be had in the $10-12 million range.

Brandon Bass (UFA)
- could be okay, he can't shoot the 3 but he is a very good midrange shooter and is solid overall. he would be a consolation signing, imo, but could be had in the $8-10 million range.

SF
Kawhi Leonard (RFA)
- One can dream, right?

Josh Smith (UFA)
- One can joke, right?

Khris Middleton (RFA)
- would be a great addition, but the bucks have said they are going to match any offers for him and they have the cap space to do so.

Tobias Harris (RFA)
- the magic have tons of cap space, no real reason why they wouldn't match any offers on Harris. to be honest he's probably not worth what his price tag will be.

DeMarre Carroll (UFA)
- is a great defender, team player and a good shooter. I'd be all for adding carroll to the team, though Atlanta has a ton of cap space to offer him a good contract as well. maybe they can be out-bid...

K.J. McDaniels (UFA)
- an electric second-round rookie this year that only took a one-year minimum contract with the sixers so he could either get paid sooner or get out of philly lol. it's tough to know what the market would be on him, but he can hit the 3 and is active defensively.

Matt Barnes (Team Option)
- would be a good addition but the clippers will likely keep him.

Mike Dunleavy (UFA)
- a better singler really, could probably be had for ~$5-6 million.

SG:
Jimmy Butler (RFA)
- one can dream, right?

Danny Green (UFA)
- I would LOVE if we signed him. he's a good defender, great team player, smart and is an absolute knockdown shooter. the problem is that the spurs have a ton of cap space (with a ton of their guys to re-sign) and that organization is almost inbred so I wouldn't be surprised if he was a spur next year.

Wes Matthews: UFA
- he would be a great fit as he's a superb defender and a knock-down shooter, the only problem is his injury. he has the same injury as Jennings, though his happened a month and a half later and will likely need most of next to fully recover from it. he would be a decent candidate to throw a one year 'prove it' type contract at, though Portland has a ton of cap space next year and could do the same thing.

Iman Shumpert (RFA)
- the cavs are likely to be in cap hell this offseason so I doubt they'll be able to match any offers on shump. he's a great defender and a good three point shooter. him and KCP defending the wings would be awesome.

Marco Bellinelli (UFA)
- similar situation to Danny Green, belinelli isn't the player green is but is still a decent player and a very good shooter. him, meeks and KCP would be a solid wing rotation.

Gerald Green (UFA)
- could be had for cheap, I don't think he's the best player although he is a knockdown shooter and SVG likes his shooters. I wouldn't rely on him to play more than 20-25 minutes a game.
