Our pick status

Post#1 » by Dupas » Sat Mar 14, 2015 4:23 pm

Im not really an expert in that matter but..we are on our way to miss the PO'S.
I dont really think we will be able to do it we have some hard games ahead of us and this team just looks lost. Our coach is starting a bummer that didnt play for like 3 years that adds nothing to the team beside missed shots.

But my question is another..realistic what are our chances to get our pick? Is it 8 spot protect right? We can still get it or its just impossible?

To ensure we keep the pick, Heat have to finish as 8th worst record. If we finish as the 10th, we'd have a 87% chance at drafting 10.
If we finish as the 10th seed, which we have a good chance at doing, we'd be the 10th worst record and more than likely draft at 10.

Our upcoming schedule is really tough. Think we finish around the 9-10 area assuming we try to win. I've said it before but if we tank, we could move up to the 7-8 area.

The pick is ours 1-8 or 1-10?

Top 10, Heat only need the 8th to GUARANTEE not slipping out of the top 10 threshold but if they're the 10th worst team they have a very strong chance of staying at 10. To be completely honest, Heat don't even need to intentionally tank they do a good job already of being clueless, dumb and they lack identity because of the head coach. So they can pretty much lose their way to the lotto without even by "trying".

Upcoming schedule:

Cleveland
Portland
Denver
OKC

They can easily drop the next 3/4 games. That would put us right there in the top 10 since they're half a game from Utah and Boston.

we are closer to our pick than people want to admit

I was adversed to tanking but you know what? We don't intentionally tank, we are just bad. Our upcoming schedule will make or break this team and they will lose motivation to even want to play

This team came out flat in a must win game, what a bunch of jokers lol. and we want to make the playoffs to do what? Pride? get swept and blown out is our fate if that happens

We're not catching Detroit(12th seed) our best case scenario is 11th seed. Even then you'd be the 9th worst record, you'll either draft 1-3(Like the Cavs and Bulls did '14 and '08) or 9-11. With that said Brooklyn is pretty bad now, so the 10th seed looks to be ours as Boston is just being so well coached.

Why not just add a young top 10 player to our core and just make a run next year?

If you're suggesting to tank to keep the pick, there's no way the Heat would intentionally lose games.
But there's still a good chance we keep the pick.

I jumped on the tank wagon last week. There's 17 games left, would it really hurt our pride to allow Bill Walker and Rio lead the Tank. This is our Tim Duncan moment. This Pick could change the future of this team for the better.

If we were able to pick in the top 4 and draft Mudiay we would be deadly.

Dragic/Chalmers/Napier
Wade/Mudiay/Johnson
Deng/Beasley/Dragic
Bosh/McRoberts/Haslem
Whiteside/MLE/Birdman

Wow. That team would be the best in the east by a considerable margin.

Just check out mock drafts and read up on the top prospects.

Lol no way we get a pick close enough to drafting Mudiay unless Silver gifts the Heat the post-lebron "luck" package. In the .2% chance that it does happen I'd be on the fence with a MAX Dragic but when you think about it, Mudiay would be the perfect replacement for Wade when he retires so they could start a Dragic/Mudiay backcourt in the future and be another slashing terror duo.

Kelly Oubre, WIllie Cauley-stein, Justise Winslow are more in the Heat's draft range. Depending on if the Heat feel they need to upgrade the backup center position and preserve Bosh strictly at the PF or upgrade the wings and significantly reduce Chalmers' minutes.

I could see Silver gifting the HEAT something nice this summer. He did it for Cleveland and that is a much less important franchise to the NBA than the HEAT are. I'm not saying that I expect anything but it is probable, especially because Silver was just in Miami praising the franchise.

IMO if we do luck into a low draft pick, our priority should be looking forward and replacing Wade with a prolific guard that has handles, athleticism and court vision. Muddily fits that bill. Fingers crossed.

Nobody in this draft has anywhere near Tim Duncan potential. You think the 9-10 pick is going to be a game changer for us? For the people that want to tank, who do you want in the draft? Assuming we get the 10th pick who exactly do you want. Draft picks are like cars, they're worth more before you use them. It's easy to say draft pick this and draft pick that it's not so easy to pick out a kid that you think would make a legitimate impact.

My ideal target (who might be somewhere near our range) would be Mario Hezonja. Absolutely love his game and fit here.

The debt must be paid. Better sooner than later. We have other debts to pay as well

If we had the pick, Riley would just trade it away anyway.
