He'd certainly be my target if the Knicks wound up with the 3rd or 4th pick and the top two bigs are gone. I like Deandre, he'll get you a ton of rebounds and blocks with some easy buckets. Just keep him happy with the lobs and he'll give you the rest.

Since pck has invested in news kantor with a draft pick, Steve Adams, and signed collision to a new contract. You think they would trade ibaka?

Ibaka for hardaway Calderon and Galloway?

exactly lol I'd be down for Russell and Jordan and then mid- lower level 2 way players and I think that's exactly what we'd need to be playoff bound atleadt

At this point we really need to be realistic about who we can get in our Free Agent pool.

I can't think of one RFA that you guys think we will be able to take away maybe outside of Patrick Beverley but idk what good will that do considering the triangle runs without heavy usage from the pg position.

Middleton was someone I was targeting for a while and now the Milwaukee Bucks were smart enough to realize Brandon Knight was more detrimental to their team than helpful and Middleton is now the lead guy going forward.

I would throw him the max personally but otherwise that, I think walking out with Danny Green and someone that can defend the middle will be ideal if we draft someone like Okafor.

FemaleDogPlease wrote:Knicks need an influx of young talent in the front court. Monroe or Kanter. Knicks would be wise to make a run at Monta Ellis.

I completely agree with you. Monroe at center fits perfectly in the triangle as he is an excellent passer and rebounder. I'd put Bargnani as that PF who can hit the outside shot, facilitate ball movement, and play some defense in the post, Melo slides back to his natural SF positIon, and, if PJ can get Monta Ellis to buy into the program, than I can live with Calderon, Larkin, and Galloway at the point.

This starting line-up provides a balanced offense and defensive attack, if we consider that Cole Aldrich, Lou Admunson and Quincy Acy are fully ready to jump in and fill in our key defensive positions,

I think there would be enough cap money to ink Robin Lopez as well.

If we could get the lower of our own and Denver's 2016 draft pick back from Toronto with Demar DeRozan, would you consider dealing first overall for that package? We essentially get our own 2016 pick back and all-star second scoring option for 'Melo. Then we use our cap space on Omer Asik and Greg Monroe and our cap MLE on Kirk Hinrich.

C-Omer Asik
PF-Greg Monroe
SF-Carmelo Anthony
SG-Demar DeRozan
PG-Kirk Hinrich

J.Okafor/Bargs/Cole
Melo/Bass/Amundson
Kawhi/Early/Thanasis
Khris/Shved/Ray Allen
Gallo/Hinrich/A.Miller

=> Calderon, THJ (or/and Thanasis) along with our top4 protected 2018 pick for Middleton

Kawhi max out with backloaded offer; Hinrich for the MMLE, Miller, Allen for the vet min, Bass, Bargs & Shved 3M each

Count me in on Monroe. He'd fit this system perfectly. Plus, at only 24 he'll be in his prime as Okafor/Towns/Mudiay begin to reach their prime. I really don't think Aldridge, Gasol, Butler, or Dragic will come here. A guy like Monroe will probably be the best the Knicks can do.

Galloway(1M)/Lin(3M)/A.Miller(2M)
D.Green(9M)/Shved(2M)/Allen (2M)
Kawhi(15.5M)/Early(1M)/Thanasis (1M)
Melo(22.5M)/Bass(5M)/Amundson(1M)
Towns(5M)/Bargnani(4M)/Aldrich(1M)

Lin and 2nd rounder for THJ
Trade Calderon to dump his salary
And we'll have three TPE (3M, 6M and 8M) to use in the process... on of those to get Bass (or D.West)

I really love that starting lineup, but too unlikely to grab Leonard. That would be ideal though. I really dislike that second unit.

Here's a deal the other teams fans seemed to like...

Knicks get:
Greg Monroe (sign and trade; four year deal starting at $13 Million)
Brandon Rush

Warriors get:
Carl Landry
Traded Player Exception(s)

Kings get:
Jose Calderon

Pistons get:
David Lee
2017 Rockets Second Round Pick (via NYK)
2019 Rockets Second Round Pick (via NYK)
2019 Cavaliers Second Round Pick (via NYK)

If we precede that with drafting Karl-Anthony Towns and keeping Cole Aldrich's cap hold, we would still have enough cap space to:

Sign Omer Asik to a four year deal starting at $11 Million
Sign Arron Afflalo to a four year deal starting at $8 Million
Sign Kirk Hinrich to the cap MLE

If we made these moves, I strongly (I know I'll be blasted for this) consider bringing back Andrea Bargnani for the veteran minimum to fill out the bench.

C-Omer Asik/Karl-Anthony Towns/Cole Aldrich
PF-Greg Monroe/Andrea Bargnani
SF-Carmelo Anthony/Cleanthony Early
SG-Arron Afflalo/Tim Hardaway Jr/Brandon Rush
PG-Kirk Hinrich/Langston Galloway

Sign Lou Amundson, Jimmer Fredette and Ronnie Brewer to fill out our IR roster spots and we're set.

Note: Phil's recent comments about building through free agency over the draft is why I think he values dumping Calderon's contract at the expense of three second round picks for more free agent flexibility and his recent comments about the players coming out still being kids is why I think he still signs a center (Asik) even though he drafted Towns in order to give Towns proper time to develop while we compete in the meantime instead of throwing the rookie to the wolves and risking a longer rebuilding process.

I can confidently say that Phil Jackson has no F****ing idea what he is doing ( and you Knick Fans deep down know it ) . The triangle is so outdated also. Jordan lived in the post area , same with Kobe , Shaq etc.

Now its all about spread the floor out pick and rolls and hand off pick and rolls .

Why is Phil Jackson making 12 million dollars a year , when he has no idea what he is doing
OJ Mayo , Michael Jordan , Allen Iverson.

PF---- Bargnani / JSmith / Kaminsky
SF---- Melo / Thomas / Early
SG---- Khris Middleton or Danny Green / Hardaway / Thanasis

Offseason Idea (assuming we land the #1 pick).

We select Jahlil Okafor with the pick, Philly picks 2nd and selects D'angelo Russell, Minnesota picks 3rd and selects Karl Anthony Towns.

Knicks then pick swap with the Twolves Pick #1 (OK4) and Jose Calderon for Picks #3 (KAT) and Gorgui Dieng. With this move the knicks (1st pick is 4.7 million and calderon 7.4) - 12.1 million in outgoing salaries and only (3rd pick 3.8 million in salary and Dieng is 1.5 next year) - 5.3 in incoming salaries. That would be a savings of approx. 7 million on the cap.

Knicks then contact the GSW and say offer cap relief because they will be close to 90 million dollars in salary hell once they sign Draymond Green. So the knicks offer Cap relief for a TPE for David Lee, there #30th pick, and a 2019 2nd round pick.

With the 30th pick the Knicks select Delon Wright (currently projected 30th in there mock) - 940K starting salary for the 30th pick.
---Knicks could expand the deal to a 3 team trade and move Tim Hardaway Jr + the 30th pick to HOU for the NOP pick - Select Kris Dunn. (Houston bench could use another scorer and it seems like it would be good fit for THjr off ther bench)

So lets say coming out of the draft the knicks saved another 6 million after there transactions plus David Lee's contract.

Current Roster (assuming a 67 million cap):

Melo - $22,875,000
Lee - $15,493,680
Karl Anthony Towns (picks 3) - $3,820,000
Kris Dunn (pick 14) - $1,440,000
Dieng - $1,474,440
Early - $845,059
Galloway - $845,059
Antetokounmpo (min salary) - $525,093

Total of approx. 46.8 million in salaries:
So 7 guys on the roster means you needs to have 4 minimum cap holds @ $525,093 = $2,100,372.

So we would have 49,425,465 in salary tied up so $67,000,000 - $49,425,465 = $17,574,534 in cap space.

In this case we can offer Butler a max offer sheet, Middleton a big offer sheet. Or we can spread the $$$ around.

Scenario 1:
Jimmy Butler starting salary would be $14,746,000 (minus the 525,093 cap hold) = using up approx. 14.2 million (unlikely bulls don't match but lets just say they don't) - that would leave us with with a little over 3 million left. Sign maybe a veteran packup PF like Brandon Bass/Dareell Arthur/Kyle O'Quinn/Kevin Seraphin.

Sign Shved to the Room Exception - starting salary of 2.8 (2 year 5.8 million dollar contract)

Roster Looks like:
KAT/Dieng
Lee/Bass
Melo/Early/Thanasis
Butler/Shved
Galloway/Dunn

-with lee coming off the books the following year we would have plenty of $$$ to offer a max to Durant or another big FA like Horford as well.

Scenario 2:
Khris Middelton - having him sign a 13 million dollar offers sheet (Milwaukee may match). in this case you would be using up about 12.5 million is salaries so you would have about 5 million remaining. You could sign Corey Joseph with that remaining 5 million $$$ and the bring back bring in Bass with the room exception.

KAT/Dieng
Lee/Bass
Melo/Early/Thanasis
Middleton/Galloway
Joseph/Dunn

Scenario 3:
Danny Green/Aaron Afflao - maybe 8-10 million per season. I prefer Danny Green (NY kid might be willing to come back home). 9.5 million (minus the cap hold starting salary space). You would have about 8 million remaining. You could probably offer Patrick Beverly an offer sheet starting at 8 million. Then use the Room Exception on Bass.

KAT/Dieng
Lee/Bass
Melo/Early/Thanasis
Green/Galloway
Beverley/Dunn

I think these are some somewhat realistic scenarios and I was bored but in all these scenarios I think this would make us young and competitive and attractive to future 2016 FA like Durant/Horford/Conley and with Lee's big $$$ coming off the books we will have plenty of space to be a strong competitor when the cap rises.
4-Peat! 22-25 BAF Champion Spurs:

ROSTER

Walker Kessler/Daniel Gafford/Adem Bona
Nikola Jokic/Santi Aldama/Isaiah Stewart
Aaron Nesmith/Josh Hart/Jaime Jaquez

Steph Curry/Chris Paul/Ryan Rollins

I can't wait until the draft lottery so there's a better idea of who we will draft. If it's top two, I say Towns if we have first overall and Towns or Okafor depending who goes first if we have second overall. Getting third or fourth overall makes me sad.
