I mean having participated in our camp you would think would provide some advantageous intangibles as far as familiarity with the team and coaching staff.

Ernie also made the call that the older Rasual Butler be given a roster spot over the younger James Anderson. EG has shown that he can't judge talent, he prefers vets, and he doesn't think long-term.

Your conclusions are certainly correct, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, and in fact Butler turned out to be a great choice -- certainly way better than James Anderson would have been.

Maybe you meant to refer to Damion James? When he was drafted I was pretty sure he'd turn into a solid NBA player (I'd have taken him over Booker @#23 in 2010 -- and I'd have been wrong). He hasn't. Too small for a 4, and can't shoot well enough for a 3 (especially not 3-pointers).

Butler played has played better for us than DJ has ever played for any NBA team.

Well, it might be "Too-RAY", but if it is, I'm calling him Too-Ray Moo-Ray, and I'll hope he doesn't play Bourré.

 Oops, don't know how I mixed the two players up. I pondered how a younger James would have panned-out over the long season over the older Butler. It was a close call at the time IIRC the press accounts.

Got this up over at the blog.

Summary: Murry plays hard and does lots of positive things, but he shoots badly and commits lots of turnovers. In PPA, he rates below average in the D-League (89 for the season).

Not a "disaster" signing, but underwhelming still.

Guys who have been more productive in the D-League this year and might be better options than Murry include:

- David Stockton
- Seth Curry
- Elliott Williams
- D.J. Seeley
- Aaron Craft
- Vander Blue
- Chris Babb

All have their "warts," which is to be expected of a minor league player (and is true of Murry). If it was me, I'd go Stockton if I wanted a pure PG.

Curry would seem to offer the most as a shooter.

I'd probably pass on Craft because of his shooting.

Blue has REALLY improved his shooting and might be worth trying in a 3&D role.

Well he got his first mins as a Wiz.

First move was an aggressive drive. Looked pretty good.

But as expected. 2 turnovers. 2 fouls.

He had a nice poke away to cause a turnover as well.

Nice to see another younger player out there. He is 25

I already like him more then Rice.

Here are a couple interviews.

LOL.. Another in the Temple, Otto family.. He looks like he could be a cousin. Not one of the twins.

Do we think he will get retained? or can we still hope for Khem Birch to come in and show up Kevin and Blair.

Is Rasual Butler STILL a good signing or even playable at this stage. Outside of the great start he's come crashing back down to earth.

Rasual has been pretty solid the last couple of games. We all knew that the 40+% he shot from 3 the first couple of months of the season was not sustainable. I'm just hoping he can get back to the 35% range on threes. But, yeah, it's still a good signing given the unexpected lift that Butler gave the Zards the first 25 or so games.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

C'mon now. What is our record with the Eifel Toure?

I'm telling you. Almond and Toure, the two best signings ever.

Murry came in for 6 seconds and Utah to a miss. By math, if Murry had played the entire game, Utah would have been held to 0 points.

Toure is just as valuable off the court as on it. At one point late in the Jazz game, I saw him giving some instructions to Wall when JW was sitting near him on the bench. Maybe Murry is responsible for Wall's hot shooting of late.

I read his lips on the bench, he said "hold your follow through young man"

I heard he made a quick call to Netanyahu, and instantly there was peace in the middle east.

Sometimes mixing in some new faces can help a team. Things get stale. You never know.

Sessions and Toure as two new faces. And it wasn't like Professor was any kind of conversation piece or pick me up type personality. And maybe its even less mentally stressful for Wall knowing that at least Sessions can run up and down the court and keep the pace. Maybe he even is perked up by that. Wall was basically a PG team with his dad before.

Maybe Session is helping in ways we haven't thought of like being a little more Sam I Am around Wall. Wall always had Sam until this year and Sam never shut up. Professor is pretty much the opposite.

You never know with team chemistry.
