You're right, Moncada was signed under the pool system. But Soler was not, and he was drafted as a prospect in this league. Again, I agree with this because it was obvious Soler wouldn't be major-league ready for years. Everyone expects Tomas to start in Arizona.

Soler signed years ago, under a different set of MLB rules. In three years from now, the MLB will likely switch their rules up again, maybe to an international draft.

I think the best way to differentiate the two is to go by the INTL bonus pool money rule.

It is interesting to see these big signings (Rusney Castillo (unless Betts doesn't beat him out like I think he will) and Alex Guerrero, Miguel Gonzalez) all have to spend time in the minors though.

I would prefer if you took him as a prospect and if you want to immediately promote him like insfo did with Souza, that's fine.

Yeah I agree with Sett. I just think if I hadn't picked up Rusney last September then we'd probably consider him a prospect. I think there are still some questions if Yasmany will make the team (much like Rusney).

Not many guys are looking for young, high-upside depth that you get in multiple for one deals it seems.

With the 1st pick in the FA draft, I take Erick Aybar. I'm going to keep Tomas on my prospects list for the time being.

WTF just happened? How is Tomas any different from Tanaka, Abreu, Darvish et al who were taken in the FA draft? Can we have some clarification on whether it was his age that is the determining factor?

I don't have a problem with this, just need to have the rule clarified on who gets to be eligible for the FA draft vs the prospect draft.
