Yes, but Biz protects the rim and helps against the roller. Al does none of this. He sags in the paint but offers no rim protection and lets the roll man and ballhandler do whatever they want. You really need to be getting paid by the FO as a PR rep. Your ability to spin and deflect is impressive.

Again, when looking at this game, the ballhandler never got into the lane and never fed the roll man. I went play by play and pointed this out. This criticism doesn't apply to this game.

It does you just choose to ignore it. He gave up wide open jumpers off screens to a great shooter. That is as bad as not defending the roll. He did this because he can't defend the roll. He cost us on defense and there is no way to spin that without lying to yourself.

Even if I were to agree with you, you're left with the conclusion that he cost us just eight points, and that's blaming only the help defender and assuming (a) that changing our PNR defense would not have resulted in easy baskets in other actions and (b) that Al helping would have forced the shot to miss. You are acting like it was a huge problem that cost us the game, while at the same time acknowledging that Al only didn't make the right play on a PNR four times over the course of the entire game.

My favorite sequence in this game was around midway through the 4th quarter when Kemba was kind of leading us on a comeback but after Al came back into the game. At some point the ball ends up in Al's hands in the post. Obviously, he shoots a pathetic attempt right into DJ, who was all over him, and gets blocked, gets the ball back, and then throws up another terrible attempt that doesn't get blocked but misses badly. The Clippers come down on the other end and Al just stands there and watches one of the Clippers bigs get an easy bucket at the rim when he is right next to him. Clifford calls a timeout and Kemba storms back to the bench and throws his mouthpiece. Kemba gets subbed out of the game and Clifford leaves in Al. Great Job!

Another big thing with AL this year compared to last is that his offensive movement is much, much worse. He operates almost exclusively from one spot now and his mobility from that spot is bad too. He's hoping that defenders get lulled into his pivot magic - which is nice and cool and all that but against bigger frames and quicker front courts its entirely too easy to defend and puts not real consistent pressure on a defense. Its giving defenses entire possessions off.
