Nice interpretation...So we have a only 5% chance of picking Towns, what are you basing that on? I know you said it's not up for debate but who died and proclaimed you the authority on basketball analysis?

Logic. Just because a vocal minority started shouting Town from the rooftop doesn't mean Phil cares. He's going to want to pick the best overall player, no mock draft I've seen yet has ANYONE outside of Okafor as #1. I'm the self proclaimed authority, no death needed.
Don't get out much? Towns is #1 at nbadraft.net with OK$ being #3.
LOL but he's using "Logic".

I'm officially hitching my wagon to D'Angelo Russell. This kid is the real deal. He just has things you can't teach. And he's only going to get better as he gets stronger and develops his body and works on his quickness. Him and Melo is a deadly combination. And what I like is he's not just a scorer. He makes others better! That's the element most needed in a franchise player. Not sure Okafor or Towns are going to make everyone else better. Russell is the star of this draft. Everyone's falling for the BIG over small philosphy again. Man, I just hope we land the 3rd pick. I do not want pick #1 or 2. Those are forced picks which make you almost HAVE to take one of the bigs. I don't like Okafor's defense or awareness. And although Towns has many skills I think he has some bust potential (just my gut feeling). Russell is the guy I'm seeing who can change this franchise's fortunes.

His court vision and passing is so damn good. He creates beautiful angles to pass from and he seems to throw them not too hard and not too soft. I see a scoring version of Kenny Anderson in him.

“There’s so much to love about his game,” one NBA GM told Chad Ford of ESPN.com about Russell. “Even when he has a bad game, it looks like a good one because every time the ball leaves his [hands], it looks like it’s going in. He plays with such great confidence and has a terrific feel. I think he could be a James Harden-type player at the next level. That’s what kind of scorer and playmaker he could be.”

Could be wrong, but I thought Redd was viewed as a lockdown defender who had to work on his shooting? Not a bad shooter, but not a great one yet.

Michael Redd is one of the best shooters of the past decade, he was definitely a great shooter.
He was drafted as a lockdown defender but in the NBA he was a meh defender.

Redd was a guy that got into the NBA on his defense and worked on his shooting to the point that he was considered a deadeye, almost specialist type shooter. He never flashed the kinda creativity Russell does. Man, between the tourney and workouts guys are gonna have to start distancing themselves because right now, there is no clear number one between Okafor, Towns, Russell and Mudiay.

Yeah, I know he was a great shooter. I just thought it wasn't the case coming out of college.
I stand corrected though.

Okafor and Towns both make players better too. Theyre great passers for big men. I mean Amundson, Jason Smith, and Cole are averaging over 2.5 asts/per36 for us so I can only imagine what they would in this system.
Otherwise I do like Russell a lot. Ive wavered between who I like more between him and Jah for that second spot behind Towns. On one hand Jah's post game is mystical and we could really use a guy to get easy buckets, but we all know about the defensive concerns. I prefer my center to be a great defender. They erase mistakes inside. Its like playing football with no safeties if your center doesnt protect the paint well. Not saying a contender couldnt be built around Jah, but unless he improves a lot on D or we pickup an Ibaka it's going to be tough.
So thats why at times Ive favored Russell over Jah. Hes not some great defender either but you can get away with that more from a guard than a center. I only worry about all the jumpshots Melo and Russell would be taking, as Russ settles way too much for me (like Melo has been) when he should be attacking. Hes not that explosive and I dont think I have even seen him dunk, so I dont know if he'll be able to get to the rim and finish well in the pros. What gives me hope is his team just sucks so with more spacing in the NBA he should be okay, and his handles are yo yo. Vision and passing is top shelf though no doubt about that. That will easily translate.
I only started watching Russell's last 8 games in full, and he's only shot over 47% once. Half his shots have been threes and hes been missing many of em. Shot selection has been questionable. I guess I havent seen him at his best but I dont see the wetness of Curry or the slashing of Harden. Theres no arguing with what hes done but Id still take Towns and Jah over him right now.
Btw heres a good article on Russ that Herring just put out:

That Russell video was brutal, so many missed shots on there. You get some elements from Curry, Roy and Harden all mixed in with his game. Russell is certainly a player that did good for himself by not going to Kentucky, that Matta connection really worked for him.

I am a fan but Russell’s production numbers-wise as a Knick may very well just mirror what Shved is giving us now. On the other hand, we have no one on our team and in free agency that can give what Towns or Okafor would bring on the table at that same $4-5mil/year price range. In the long-run we would never know who would be the better player but they would be contributing to their respective teams in different ways.

If you just started watching Russell about 8 games ago, he's been playing with a tweaked hamstring since he injured it a few weeks back during the Nebraska game (6 or 7 games ago). When he had his legs, his jumper was butter. He never had that explosive first step, but like guys like Pierce and Harden, his BBIQ allows him to float on the court and to get into whatever spot he wants. He may not have the power drive game of a Harden, or the quickness of a Dragic while penetrating the lane...but he's a crafty finisher at the basket.
The kid is a perfect Triangle fit. He can play and pass with his back to the basket. Spreads the floor, has INSANE touch on his passes and feel for the game. He'll get his in the flow while getting Melo in his best spots. He can slide to the 2guard giving us additional versatility with the option of a 2pg set.
The games you saw, he hasn't moved the way he did 2 months ago. He was so crisp and on point with everything he did and never turned the ball over. In the last few games, he's been sloppy protecting the ball and very lazy with many of his passes. A lot of that is his legs, but also the fact that he looks bored in Thad Motta's offense. His teammates suck, and combined with the hammy, he seems to be just going through the motions.
I'm looking forward to watching him play tomorrow. He's been an excellent 2nd half player all season long. He really seems to assert himself in the bigger moments. I want to see how he does on the big stage of the Tournament...but I'm afraid of being disappointed given how terrible his team is.

What I like is that he's patient with the ball but also knows the opportune time when to make the pass, and knows where to go for the best angles. This is gonna be a tough draft. I almost don't want to end up with the #1 pick now, but at the same time that could be costly...

Russell has the most star potential and the least bust potential of anyone in this draft imo. Feel like he's either going to be a very serviceable NBA player at the very least or an all star caliber player for many years to come.

Is Russell a PG? going to be PG in NBA?
If so you guys know my dream about us drafting a PG..
I was thinking Towns/Okafor for knicks needs maybe but I am now flip flopping like Ginobli
Russell looks special.. If he is PG only.. I'd say he is it.. (but maybe towns)
