Gerg Oden - yes, no, or maybe ?

Post#1 » by gambitx777 » Thu Mar 19, 2015 5:46 am

Ok, So word is that Greg oden is trying to make a come back, again. Word is he looks really good and feels really good right now. If Murry does not stick around, would you be down to bring him on for the play off's see if he can play 15 or 20 minutes and give us more than Kevin?

For the minimum, absolutely.

I'd sign him only if he agrees to a team option for next season.

How did Oden do with the Heat when he was with him? I don't recall that he made much of an impact.

Oden? Who's next Bynum out of the bowling center? Or Michael Redd resurrected.

Heard we were looking for some players in China League .. instead signed Toure Murry.(Does he get another 10-Day?)

If we sign a new player, it needs a guard or forward who can get their own shot and/or shoot the 3 ball.

We don't need any more bigs unless the Wizards cut someone (doubtful.) If we did I would be more interested in a young big who is rim protector/rebounder. Icing on the cake if they could shoot.

You can always look to add more players. What makes that tough is they have players that need to step up more. That's mostly where the help needs to come from.

Not sure how much more they can fix the roster this year. Mostly what they need is for players to step up and for Randy to direct the roster via strategy and rotations to play efficient. Bring structure to the offense. Focus on Wall, PP and Gortat.

Otto should be a reliable perimeter defender and TAs replacement for perimeter defender function. He needs to step up. It doesn't make sense to add another player to do what he needs to get done. Well you could but it gets messy. I guess it protect again injury but man, if they add someone to do Otto things and they do and Otto can't, that's going to be a mess. Sure, you can say screw it. Winning is winning. Just pointing out. Its not an easy fix.

Sessions can handle the ball. What he needs to do is shoot it from outside when he is pressed like he was last night. When he made the 3 late in the game, that helped a lot. If he won't shot it, they will just press him more and Wall become the only one that can break that level of pressure.

And they need Hump to shoot from 3. As it is, I would rather have Gooden out there then Hump. Kevin while not as reliable in some ways, at least gives you get post scoring. Kev can go against almost anyone with that hook. Hump is kind of less D then Nene with longer long 2s which is worse then Gooden who will at least shot and makes some 3s. And this team needs more 3s.

Its not an easy thing to find the right pieces to add to this roster at this point. Lot of things could help some and sound good, but how do you fit them in ?

Session for Professor. That made sense. He replaced him. He added transition speed. He took his minutes as back up PG.

Just adding a player. Not sure how much that helps except injury protection. This team is only going to go as far that Wall being a WallStar .. PP being The Truth and Gortat being the Hammer. And Coaching. Players stepping up in the gaps.

If I had to add something. I think it would be a long armed perimeter defender in case Otto fails.

Oden's a long shot, but it's a reasonable question to ask if the Wiz should go after him, He's only 27, and he was a legitimately GREAT prospect coming out of college - and actually played great in the NBA before the injury.

We we have Murry, so he can be that solid wing defender in a pinch, but!
I agree with you, the time to tweek the team was months ago, during the trade deadline or right after when players were getting cut and bought out. We missed that chance. Goden is playing well right now, so he's probably not going anywhere. But I would not be mad at all if we just up and cut Kevin or found a way to buy out Blair to add Oden. It's a reasonable gamble. if he's healthy, and can give you 20 minutes a game near what he did before he got hurt, he can be your rebounding shot blocker off the bench.
