PG to Return to Team USA

Post#1 » by pacers33granger » Fri Mar 20, 2015 12:06 am

Anyone else a little miffed by this? I mean it's totally his choice and all and I can understand him wanting to play for a medal, but after last summer I wouldn't want him near team USA. Spend the summer getting stronger and working with teammates rather than playing for a BS tournament.

Can the organization tell him they don't want him to? I think I recall the Spurs or Mavs doing this with one of their guys, but obviously it's not a good look.

I'm with you! Take the time off. You ain't Yao Ming you're not gonna get assassinated if you don't play. Sit down!

lightning probably won't strike twice in the same place. he needs time on the court. I once suggested Fort Wayne to a blogger but he shot my idea down.

I think we can all be nearly certain it won't happen again, but that's not really the issue to me. And he does need time on the court, but as a Pacer, which should be done this season to help him get back into the swing of things.

If I were a carpenter and had an employer and I worked on a friend's house (not under direction of my boss) and got injured in a freak accident, I can be certain my boss wouldn't want me doing that again no matter how unlikely an injury were to occur again. Not a great analogy, but in a simpler basketball one, if this happened in the Drew League, you can be sure that the team wouldn't want PG playing there again right after he recovers. Just because the jersey says "USA" doesn't make it any different.

I'll freely admit I have a bias due to my disdain for the whole program though (which I've had way prior to PG's injury). It's just tons of free money for people who put next to nothing into the whole thing to organize it and get to keep all of the money on the false basis of national pride. And it really sucks when we as fans are harmed by it.

San Antonio stopped Manu from playing for this team right? It probably depends on the contract

I don't know about the program's legitimacy or all that...but if we want him on the court he can come off the damn bench. The chemistry won't be that effected. Do you really think he would be a net negative on the court? Team USA is a whole different situation. I would rather he focus his summer on further rehabilitation.
