Yeah, he's a stud, but I don't think we have the money and Chicago would be crazy not to keep him.
If I'm not mistaken, wouldn't we have close to enough to offer 2 rookie max deals? Definitely 1 at least. I say force Chicago's hand. Offer a max and poison pill it. Bulls are not fans of going over the cap and this could make it tricky for them.
If not him, go for Leonard with the same offer idea.
But I'll bring up again, why would/are we targeting SFs with Warren, Tucker, Bullock, Granger and Marcus on the team? The only way I'm going after Butler or Leonard or Harris if I'm McD is, if we are dealing at least four of the names above, and not re-signing Green. Or dedicating Bullock to SG and Marcus to PF, and even then, what are we doing with Warren? He's not a 'tweener' in any sense--he's not playing SG or PF. If we sign Butler or Leonard or Harris, we'd have to trade Warren, revert Tucker to 2nd team, and even then, that leaves what, 5-10 minutes a game for Granger? Otherwise, we've just wasted a lottery pick on Warren, because he's not going to get any burn with those guys ahead of him.
I understand that if a star is available, you go after him if funds allow. I'm not arguing that, but if you are advocating signing one of those three, as I've seen a lot on this forum, then also provide a plan for opening up our SF position, because right now, we are 'overstaffed' as it is at that position. And then we'd need to turn the other guys into assets for an upgrade at PF.
