Who is better going forward the Suns or the Jazz

Post#1 » by JMac1 » Sun Mar 22, 2015 12:26 am

Having a discussion on the Suns board about the Suns situation. Who is in a better place going forward as far as players, team, and talent?

Thanks

Cool. But this showdown is between only Phoenix and Utah, but I guess I could use that poll to support my stance.

That was kinda the idea.

For me, I'd take Utah. Younger, already have a core locked in, not as good now, but look to be on the rise.

That is because you have a brain and eyes that function properly.

Definitely Utah. They're just about as good as Phoenix is right now and they're improving. While the same can not be said about the Suns

I'm saying Jazz almost strictly because of Gobert. What an animal.

Also I like Hayward more than anyone else on the suns' roster

Depends how good warren, Goodwin and exum turn out.

I choose Utah because of favours. Gobert and len both look very promising. Bledsoe and Hayward are both great two way players. Phoenix has the better middle aged players like the Morris' and tucker but for the future Utah is better placed with exum gobert Hayward favors compared to bledsoe Goodwin warren len.

Jazz has 2 locked cornerstones if not 3.... Gobert, Hayward, Favors. These 3 are legit cornerstones.
Suns are still trying to find their cornerstones, Len is likely, Bledsoe/Knight are in limbo, I think the money is better spent on a legitimate SF or PF next to one of Bledsoe or Knight. The Morris twins should be traded to help get the Suns another cornerstone player.

I would take Gobert over the entire Suns roster.

I like what Utah is doing right now, but they really need to figure out their backcourt. Alec was a major overpay, Exum needs a ton of work, and Trey is annoying to watch. I think Hood has some potential to be a good role player though.

Utah fans, is Exum untouchable? I kind of want to see Utah get more of a veteran point guard in the mold of Mike Conley. I think the Jazz are ready to roll right now, and Exum is probably another 3-4 years away offensively.

I really like the Utah core. They're honestly set/ have high ceiling players at every position. Hayward is a very good perimeter, close to elite prospects at C and PF with very interesting prospects like Exum and Hood and Burks who is an ideal 6th man. Suns have talent too and a good GM who could very well make moves to tip the scales. I'm high on Exum though so Ive thought the Jazz have one of the most intriguing rosters going forward ever since last summer when they got him and Hood. I may be biased by my own faiths but I think Utah has the pieces to be a top team within 2-3 years

Alec is fine. If we try to trade some of our assets in for a good vet then we will actually need a functional amount of salary to trade. Plus with the cap going up massively he isn't going to hurt us.

Burke is useful as a guy who isn't afraid to take a shot, which can have its uses at times. But yes we need a second point guard who can actually run an offense.

Yes he is untouchable. Who cares about his offense when as a first year player his defense is already above average? His offense will develop over those 3-4 years and his defense may get better too as he gets stronger.

3 straight 0 point games for Exum, Jesus that's horrible.

I think Len is underrated, obviously Gobert is making a much bigger impact right now but I see Len becoming a dominant defender and rebounder.

If you combine Utah's 3-5 with Phoenix's 1-2, you'd have a proper team. Otherwise both teams have holes and Phoenix's frontcourt is much farther along than the Jazz backcourt, which is quite frankly horrible. Its a good thing Hayward got a max otherwise its straight unfair the amount of heavy lifting he has to do to make Hood & Exum look halfway less bad. Exum makes Burke look better in comparison and that's the best compliment I can offer to Burke.
