JJ Redick Appreciation
Man, what an acquisition. Best shooter we've ever had since Piatkowski. His best individual offensive numbers have been with us. Why was he mostly a below 10PPG player when he was younger back in his Orlando days? He's 30 now. Is he a late bloomer?

Combination of confidence and being in the right fit.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

he worked super hard to learn actual NBA and relevant nba skills.
it's why adam morrison washed out and he didn't.

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
He has the best work ethic hands down. His basketball characteristics are a perfect fit for us. He has mastered the plays we run for him and now he is expanding his Clipper game to include dribble penetration and midrange shots. I hope he remains a clipper for the next 5 years. I have no concerns of him ever being out of shape.

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
he was smart enough and humble enough to see what he needed to do to become a good nba player. I have watched him since he was a freshman at duke and have always thought he would make it. I a most impressed with his defense. he is no longer a target and I think his help defense is very good. I am sure most sg,s do not want to see jj and have to chase him around for 30 minutes. must be hard for them in the locker room when you lose and jj puts up 25!!!

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
He's put in a lot of work to get to where he is as a pro. Coming out of college, there were question marks due to his size (height and lack of length) as well as his athleticism. He was a great college player, but how well would he translate?
He knows what he can bring to the table and plays within himself. He's going to wear out his defenders. His movement is going to create opportunities for himself and/or his teammates. He's an amazing fit and I'm glad he's here.

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
Glad there's this thread.
As far as SG's go, Jamal gets all the attention and accolades for being a scoring machine via highlights and mixes. Alot of Clipper fans on Twitter love him and didn't want him traded. But you know what, Redick is more valuable to this team. And I wish he wouldn't get overlooked so often.

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
Totally agree, Redick is underappreciated. It gets old seeing Clipper fans on other sites bash JJ while giving Jamal a pass for everything. I'll take the pure shooter who makes an impact offensively by moving without the ball even when his shot isn't falling over the flashy, feast-or-famine chucker any day of the week.

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
Let's keep this as the JJ Redick Appreciation Thread and not the JJ Redick Appreciation in Comparison to Crawford Thread.
I agree. I loved the guy ever since he said 2 off seasons ago that he started working earlier to be ready for the 2013-2014 season. He knew he came here to win a championship and he took his preparation and (from what i can see) his mindset to another level. It sucks his back was hurt so much of last year. I almost forgot about it until that little stretch before the ASB where he wasn't there. I felt naked and I knew we were in trouble with out him running off screens and causing havoc on defense.
And he's become crafty…little floaters and finishers in the lane. They're clutch as hell, hard to defend and open up our offense more.

J.J. Redick Heating Up in Best Season Yet
[tweet]https://twitter.com/FredKatz/status/579325504953692160[/tweet]
It’s no accident Redick has improved his production every season he’s been in the league after his sophomore campaign. His offseason workout isn’t just about improving his game, but countering how other teams and players are defending him. He will look to strengthen his weakness before his opponents look to exploit them on the court.
“I pay attention to advance stats, and I pay attention to shot charts,” Redick said. “I try to figure out, if I can’t get to my strengths, what are teams forcing me to do and how do I improve on those weakness so each year I kind of work on one or two things that if I can get them better will incrementally add a little bit of offensive to my game. The other thing is the amount of time I’m in the gym. Once I start my basketball workouts in July, it’s every day except Saturday. I’m in there, and my shooting percentages each year reflected that I’ve put the time in.”
...
“I played against him in college, when he was at Duke and dropping 34 every night,” Paul said. “I have the ultimate confidence in J.J. The way he prepares for the game and the way he shoots the ball, I get pretty mad at him when he misses, because he’s not supposed to. I think that shows the trust we have in him. He’s been lights-out.
“Me and J.J. have had to be a little bit more aggressive offensively, but now that Blake’s back, he’s the one telling us to be more aggressive, and that opens it up for everybody. If I’m aggressive, that’s going to open it up for J.J. and Blake and everybody else. We’re really playing like a team.”

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
what I really respect about jj is his effort every night and every play. he can be 2 for 10 and still runs off screens with the same effort. he may get beat on defense but he never takes a play off. his ability to stay focused is amazing in such a long season.

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
Soo...in hindsight, aren't you guys glad we didn't trade for DeRozan instead?
Also, aren't you glad we didn't do anything drastic with Redick when he was cold to start the season? Redick has been a great fit since day 1. Too many NBA fans get trapped with the idea of creating on the ball and don't recognize the value of creating off the ball. Not only that with Redick, but the defensive attention he draws.
I think a lot of people thought Redick was just some spot up shooter, but Redick is just a shooter in general. He scores off the move, he's excellent on his one dribble pull up, he can use the step back well, he's able to use the curl to get to the basket, and he can also score as a ball handler off the pick and roll. Man I wish he was just a little more physically gifted for the defensive end.
One insane thing would be to have Redick/Korver as the wing players. Actually if his body didn't break down, Redick/Webster would also be a nice pairing of shooters

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
He may not be a top 5 SG.
but those top SGs can't provide what he does for us tbh.
his off ball game is 1st or 2nd in the league.

Re: JJ Redick Appreciation
while i admittedly wasn't sure just what he was bringing to the table, i think it was pretty clear from the get go last year he makes our team truly special.
just wish we had some kind of jj redick lite off the bench. and i hope he stays here for a long time.

Maybe we do with C.J. Wilcox but we'll never know because Doc apparently doesn't believe in developing young players...outside of his own son, that is.
