Otherwise both teams have holes and Phoenix's frontcourt is much farther along than the Jazz backcourt, which is quite frankly horrible. Its a good thing Hayward got a max otherwise its straight unfair the amount of heavy lifting he has to do to make Hood & Exum look halfway less bad. Exum makes Burke look better in comparison and that's the best compliment I can offer to Burke.
Hood is playing well. I don't think the 2 is going to be a problem for Utah. Rodney Hood is a rookie (6'8 is nice size for a 2 guard) who had to deal with a bad injury to start the season but who has played really well as a starter after the all star break. In March since he was moved into the starting lineup, he is averaging 12.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.9 apg and is shooting 49% from the field and 40% from three. Since the all star break he is shooting 48% from the field and 45% from three. He was terrible against your Lakers (as was our whole team, we had just played one of the toughest games of the season the night before, that ended at like 11:30 pm) but he has been a pleasant surprise and rumor has it that our coaches are super high on him, and he may still be the starter even with a healthy Burks if he can improve this summer.
Also, Alec Burks (only a year older than Hood) was playing pretty well before his injury, and he takes quite a bit of pressure off Hayward as he can handle the ball, and is probably our only other player besides Hayward who can create his own shot (Favors is getting better at that). It was the first time Burks was starting and he didn't play well the first month but in December before he went down he was averaging:
15.7 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.1 apg and he was shooting 40% from three.
The big problem is the PG position. Exum and Burke are both shooting around 36% from the field and 32% from three. Burke is also one of the 5 worst defenders at his position in the NBA. Burke is also terrible because when he is on the court Hayward's numbers drop significantly because Hayward doesn't touch the ball as Burke chucks a ton. Trey Burke comes off the bench and still manages to shoot the second most FGA's on our team.
