I'm okay being alone on an island ...

If Towns is off the board, I'd gladly take Myles Turner to be my backup center for a few years.

I hate to have so much tunnel vision, but, with all the centers in this draft, you have to grab one, right?

Myles Turner is the next best center prospect to me after Towns.

Give me Turner at backup center. Give me Justin Anderson at backup SF. Give me Josh Richardson as my 3&D combo guard, and give me Michael Frazier (if he declares) as my pure shooting SG who can also defend.

Won't be surprised to see Turner return to school. He'll never develop properly if he leaves after this season.

I actually sour in Stanley each time I watch an Arizona game. Just never end the game feeling like his skills justify the love he's getting as a result of his physicality/athleticism

We'll see.

Same could be said about your boy Looney.

Looney isn't a center so he could get away with leaving early more than Turner.

Yes, people are definitely most enamored with his body over everything else.

Damn, from strictly a fans viewpoint, I'd love to see these guys play as juniors. It'd answer so many questions.

As it stands though, with Johnson, you'd better not be expecting anything more than a role player for four to five years.

He needs to be developed the way Kawhi Leonard was developed, except Johnson, I believe, is much younger than Leonard was coming out.

Russell reminds me so much of Evan Turner with bankable range. There's just something about his careless swagger with the ball that rubs me less as Steph Curry and more as ALL HAIL said Crawford. I'd be impressed if he has the mental ability to ever get consistent against NBA level size.

Yeah, he reminds me of Odom but I always hated Odom at SF and would hate Looney at SF too. I don't think he has the lateral quickness to be a SF and his rebounding, specially his specialty offensive rebounding, wouldn't really transition as well or be that valuable in the pros as a small forward.

Yeah Slav, he can be good, but he needs more time too. He's no savior for anyone next year, that's for sure.

In a perfect world, he'd be best served as a backup for a veteran guy like Chris Paul for a few years. That type of development would serve him very, very well for many years into the future.

This is more my line of thinking with Looney as well.

I don't doubt he could EVENTUALLY play SF, but right now he damn sure looks like a PF to me. And I'm not saying that ,Ty, because of how Alford plays him; I'm saying that because of the way he moves. He moves and looks, to my eyes, to be mostly PF right now.

I'm pretty sure, right now, in the NBA, that's where he'd be most comfortable too.

I mentioned Odom in the way that he didn't get enough praise from viewers even though his role was essential and a big reason why the Lakers kept winning. He just did all the little things; make the right pass, take advantage of his length on the defensive end, offensive rebound, set up his teammates, etc. I believe Looney is a better shooter than Odom.

Until Looney adds some strength and weight, playing him at the four early wouldn't be using him properly in my opinion. He's a great offensive rebounder, but it's because he crashes the boards, not because he is already down low boxing guys out. He would get pushed around easily in the NBA if you played him at PF. Looney doesn't appear to have the desirable lateral quickness that you need to be a SF in the NBA but he has good defensive instincts and elite length that he uses to cut off lanes instead of bodying the opponent up to keep him in front.

Does Looney have the same ball handling ability of Odom? I haven't seen that. Lamar was de facto PG when Kobe was setting up shop in the post for us.

No, not yet at least. He makes it real easy for defenders to poke it away, or disrupt him, because he's so tall, lanky, upright and loose with the ball. Odom was much stronger than Looney coming out of college and used his body really well to keep the defenders off him while dribbling.

I've said that before but for the range our pick will be (top 5), we have no business discussing either unless we intend to trade down.

Actually showing up in big games has to mean something. So no, I don't think so.

Okafor is truly going to be unstoppable once he turns his baby body fat into muscle in the NBA.

No you are not. That guy has a serious game. Amazing Athletic ability as well. At this point I think it is fair to say that all of our picks are somewhat wildcards because we don't know for sure what they'll do in the next level. This is uncharted territory for us Laker fans. We normally don't have to scope out the NCAA talent pool this closely as were basically never a lottery team lol.

Sucks that we've had 3 consecutive crappy seasons. But exciting that were rebuilding a solid core with young draft prospects.
