Chicago related fantasy basketball question, any help appreciated

Post#1 » by F1uxCapacit0r » Tue Mar 24, 2015 10:29 pm

Hey, how's it going? Raptors fan here (not troll), I have a question re: jimmy butler and wanted some info from people who watch him play every game. I have to decide between Butler or Marc gasol for a keeper.

Butler seems like the better choice due to age/role on team, I just wanted to know if this year was more of an anomaly or the expected norm from him going forward.

I've watched maybe 10 max Chicago games his year and I am having a hard time what to expect going forward.

Any help is appreciated

p.s. I hope Raps avoid you guys in the PO's you guys are the Dino kryptonite

Butler is an important and core player going forward, I'd expect him to get as many minutes & touches as he can swallow.

He's the most known quantity on the Bulls. No matter what situation happens in the future, healthy rose / broken Rose, healthy Noah / broken Noah, Taj no Taj; Butler is in every version of the Bulls from here on out.

With the rise of Mirotic I think Butler will level out to be a 16-20ppg, 5rpg, 2wpg, 45% shooter type player. He still needs to up his three % still

I love JB, but Marc Gasol is a better player. I probably keep him if I had to pick one of those guys.

Gasol gives you everything.

Gasol does give you everything, but so does Butler. Butler gets you a 3 a game, elite steals, and good blocks for a guard. Gasol gets slightly more assists and rebounds, but not by much, Butler is very close to Gasol in both those categories. Percentage wise they are about even, but Gasol may get the nod slightly in FG%, points are about even as well. The steals and 3s for me puts Butler on top, he's been a top ten player on the year, you'd be crazy to drop him.

Gasol on the other hand has been a top 15 player, and you'd also be crazy to drop him.

I have both of those guys on my keeper team and I'm keeping both, how stacked is your team that you have to drop one of them?? I really want to hear who you plan on keeping ahead of one of those guys.

Depends on your league and what the stats are but assuming regular 5X5 i'd argue Jimmy has more fantasy value IF

1. The League over inflates who has C eligibility
2. The league doesn't give enough guys SG eligibility

Marc's a better player but Jimmy to me plays a bigger position of need.

This is the 3rd year for the league, each team gets 3 keepers, 12 teams standard yahoo cats

Beverly
Clarkson

Gallanari
Jeff green
Parsons
Jimmy butler
Hayward
Durant

Anthony Davis
Marc gasol
Chandler
mozgov
Asik

I am keeping Durant, Anthony Davis, and one of Gasol, butler or Hayward

I traded Aldridge and butler for Davis this year then that team dropped butler when he got injured and I picked him up with high waiver priority.

The stats are fg% ft% 3ptm pts reb ast stl blk to

I was thinking with Davis, I don't need gasols blocks and Jimmy's low TOs help with Durants extra turnovers.

Do you see butler maintaining the low 1-2 turnovers a game?

I'm leaning towards keeping Jimmy it's just hard to ditch Gasol when he was my keeper the past 2 seasons and helped me win, but I had to factor Jimmy's age in comparison to gasol being a keeper league

Your team is stacked, dude. I can't believe someone would drop Butler lol, what a dolt.

It's a really tough call, but I think you need a good guard. You'd still have a very big 3 in AD KD and JB (doesn't that sound good together?), a lot of rebounds and blocks, you don't really need Gasol.

I feel like Butler's 2 steals a game is the most valuable stat. It's huge.

He's going to keep up the 1-2 TO.

How many years left in the league?

You should see how he does in the playoffs with everyone healthy. I don't want to plant this seed in your head but with Rose back, and an increased offensive role for Mirotic, it's possible....possible, that Butler gets a few less looks on offense.

But ionno man, dude just gets buckets. I'm also completely biased so probably don't listen to me, but you might regret it :D
