I'm still hoping for Winslow
Jackson/Dinwiddie
KCP/Meeks
Winslow/FA or maybe one of Prince or Winslow
Draymond/Tolliver
Drummond/Anthony
That's a top 10 defense right there boys.

Re: Your semi-realistic 2015-16 Pistons?
I know people are picking Draymond because they can't really see who else it would be and he's the only particularly attractive option out there at the 4, but I hope people understand its unlikely we'll have Monroe OR Green on our team next year. Even if we managed to sign him to an offer sheet, I doubt the Warriors let him walk. Heck, I'd probably say the odds on Monroe, though low, are higher.

Re: Your semi-realistic 2015-16 Pistons?
If I had to guess there's a pretty solid chance we draft a stretch big in the draft with our late lottery pick.
Either he becomes the new starter next to Drummond or becomes a critical cog in the rotation.
Small forward is easier to fill via free agency.

I agree that it would be better to fill the stretch big need in the draft rather than free agency. This isn't a very good free agent class for bigs with those skills and like others I'm expecting monroe to leave so power forward will be an immediate need. That would likely mean Porzingis or Kaminsky (maybe Portis or Looney if the Detroit falls back that far in the lottery) though and I don't know if they would be better prospects than whatever small forward could/should be available. Either way it's looking like Detroit will end up with a guy they need that fits.
Here's my semi-realistic projection with all of that in mind:
Jackson(offer sheet matched, likely max)/Dinwiddie/Jennings
Caldwell-Pope/Meeks/2nd round pick
Middleton(max contract)Williams/Martin
Kaminsky(lottery pick)/Tolliver/Miller
Drummond/Koufos(not sure what his value will be, maybe MLE?)/Anthony(re-signed to minimum)
I think there should be enough cap room for that. Not really my ideal roster outlook but it's okay.

Re: Your semi-realistic 2015-16 Pistons?
Jackson / Dinwiddie - Jennings
KCP / Meeks
Carroll / Wes Johnson - Quincy Miller
Thad Young or Milsap / Draft Pick -- Tolliver
Drummond / Brandon Wright
Deal Breakdowns:
Jackson - Match a max deal
Carroll 7-8M
Wes Johnson 1-3 M
Thad Young (7-9M) or Milsap (11-12M)
Tolliver - 3 M
Brandon Wright 5-8M
Draymond Green and Khris Middleton are getting matched and it would hurt us to go after them. Warriors will pay the tax and the Bucks will pay what it takes to bring Middleton back since no free agents want to sign with the Bucks.
We should be able to get Carroll and Johnson with no problem and that will solve our SF issues. Carroll is 5 years older than Middleton but putting up the same stats as him this season with slightly worse 3pt %. A 4 year deal with the 4th being a team option will allow us to transition him to the bench should a better SF become available.
Thad Young would be cheaper than Milsap and also more likely to sign with us. Hard to see Milsap or David West leaving winning teams and cultures to come to a dysfunctional team like the Pistons. Young shoots 37% from 3pt on 1.5 attempts and Milsap shoots 37% on 3 attempts. Milsap is 30, Young is 26.
Suns will be interested in keeping Knight so we need to offer Wright a decent contract right when free agency opens. He would be a great young big man behind Drummond.
At the high end, excluding Jackson, that is 30M spent total if we sign Carroll, Johnson, Young, Tolliver, Wright.

Your semi-realistic 2015-16 Pistons?
The most realistic responses prove this team is headed for a rut unless Jackson turns into Westbrook 2.0, which isn't happening, or we strike gold in the draft.
I'm not too excited about the direction this team is headed at this very moment. We're heading towards being a Denver Nuggets type team, where we win regularly during the season, but don't have the makeup to actually compete come playoff time.

The ones that made the playoff? If thats the case I'll take that. Rather be a playoff team than a lottery one.

We're actually heading in the direction of a team built to win in the playoffs. Interior defense, guards that stop penetration, rebounding, offensive spacing which allows ball movement and penetration and after this summer the ability to hit open shots.

I think one of johnson, Winslow(probably taken before our pick), Oubre or super Mario winds up on our team. Green and Middleton ain't happening.

How many teams have something to show for it in the last 25 years? 10? It's not easy to win a ship, but the first step is playoffs

Re: Your semi-realistic 2015-16 Pistons?
losing Monroe will be a lot easier to deal with if KCP continues to develop, and I think he has a good amount of potential offensively. having a second ball-handler besides one of our point guards would do wonders for the offense. KCP is still a little out of control when driving but I love that he's been attacking the rim more often recently. part of that might be the extra space in the paint but it is a good sign regardless. if he breaks out like I think he can then the offense will be much improved.
I will say this much: I am anticipating that our success next year will primarily depend on the talent we currently have on the team and not who we acquire in the offseason. the development of reggie, Dinwiddie, KCP and Drummond (plus Jennings coming back healthy) will be the main reason we succeed or don't next year. if we add a stretch four and we do better it won't necessarily be because their talent pushes us over the edge, but because it changes the dynamic of the team.
to be honest though, I hope KCP cools off for the last 11 games so he can fly under the radar in fantasy drafts next year
