**** this organization. 30 years from now, I bet we field a starting five of Rob Higgins, Marshall Jordan, Jerome McKinley Henderson III, Mitch Cho, and Jeremy Maxiell

I don't think it's a big deal. All he probably do is record and coordinate videos of whatever the higher ups tell him to. Basically just a do-boy. I know if I ran a corporation I would let my friends and stuff do the flunky work too if they were qualified educationally. I doubt Larry Jordan has any pull either other than to report whatever nonsense Cho might be up to to Jordan while he's on the golf course.
It would bother me a lot less if the entire organization wasn't the same way

Yeah, freaking out about the family ties of our "video scout" is a bit much.

Damn ESPN hate Jordan after he helped make them who they are during his glory days. Lol

So what were the rankings broken down this year? I went through the thread but could not find them.

I might somewhat agree with 25th for Rich Cho, but I don't think Michael Jordan deserves that level of resentment. Jordan has fallen back, given the player personnel control solely to Cho, and made the Hornets more marketable amid the re-brand bringing in a lot of increased revenue

Jordan at 25 is ridiculous.

It's weird that he was even included - they do a separate owners ranking Friday and most teams didn't have their owners included. Is MJ more involved in personnel decisions than your average owner?

It's kind of amusing that MJ can win an award for businessman of the year and still be perceived as one of the worst owners in the league.

I would say that Franchise has gotten markedly better since Jordan has become the majority owner. (Bob Johnson might be the worst owner of all time though) I dont have too many qualms with Cho other than the 2nd year of the tank happened during a bad draft.

Johnsons C-SET or whatever it was called might be the biggest debacle I've ever seen. For it to take 11 years for me to be able to view a game living 2 hours away from Charlotte was pathetic,.

No overreaction but extreme. I would be happy if both Cho and Clifford got fired. No place to go but up from 25th best owner with Dolan and them below you.

Yup and they fired their coach. A lot of people disagreed with it at the time the way they handled it. Too bad they followed up what was gonna be a successful season for them before the trade deadline with a trade for MCW and now they looking likely to tank out of the playoffs to the late lottery lol.

MJ should be 10-15 range owner.

Clifford should be 20-25 coach.

Cho should be 20-25 GM.

That's just based on the 2014 offseason into the 2014-15 season. The Hornets rebrand has been a success from a revenue standpoint and the team is doing much better financially now than they were when MJ took over the franchise. This season in the W-L column the team has been a major disappointment and there's enough blame to go around with Cho and Clifford from the bad free agency to the bad rotations and more.

The firing of the coach to add a new coach that would use the draft picks and free agent signings properly made the GM and owner look better. All I know is that I want one of if not both of Cho and Clifford to go. Clifford is currently prolly worse and more expendable than Cho tho because he's costing us games that we could win if he could coach better but that don't excuse the lack of luster on the roster either just because they could be .500 because even .500 ball is underwhelming.

I'm on board with keeping Cho. He tends to win every trade he makes (even if they aren't blockbusters) and he has managed to maintain long-term flexibility. Even the bad deals this summer don't hurt us after next season.

I would prefer to bring in a new coach and see what he can do with this roster, and then if it's still evident (or even more evident) that Cho's selections have played a heavy hand in our struggles we can bring in a new guy for the summer of 2016 and he'll have essentially a totally clean slate to work with. We have basically no flexibility this summer anyway, so it's not like Cho can do much for good or ill. With a new coach and another year of development for his picks we'll have a better picture of what he has accomplished and can make an informed decision while offering GM candidates the attractive proposition of making their mark from day one.
