I still think Wiggins should get ROY because he's been putting up numbers for a longer period. That said, I think it is probably closer than a lot of Wolves fans want to admit.

Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
Noel jumped over Wiggins in the ladder apparently. So that's a thing. And Noel is shooting .2% percent better than Wiggins who is a guard forward as opposed to a big man. This is total bs. As for the 76ers, I've seen quite a few threads jumping to how Noel is so much better than Wiggins. Its like the judges of the ROY saw Wiggins had one bad month after playing a full year of crazy minutes, several point guard and player injuries and thought, hey this seems like the time to put Noel who's played far fewer minutes ahead. This is a **** travesty. Wolves never get a break. And not one of the other four candidates can hold Wiggins' jockstrap, so the question that any of the other four are even close is total bs.

I wouldn't go that far. Noel, Mirotic, and Payton are all very good at their respective positions. But if you are voting for ROY, you can't just ignore the first 49 games of the season.

Noel, Mirotic, and Payton didn't do crap for the first half of the season, and I clearly remember Mirotic dropping out of the race several times.

The theme that keeps being repeated here is "but you have to look at the whole year." OK. Throughout the whole year who has a higher PER? WS? BPM? VORP?...Noel or Wiggins?

Noel is a very good player, no doubt about it. Already a great defender and you can drop all the advanced stats you want to back up your case and its legitimate but a lot of voters will look at 6+ ppg more and 5 min per more. At the end of the day if it's a big enough deal to come to another teams site to plead your case than best of luck to you bud

Let me answer your question with a question of my own: When have those advanced stats EVER mattered in the RoY race?

Just pointing out what the stats say about who's been better in the cumulative year.

And I'm just pointing out that those stats have NEVER mattered in determining RoY. By the stats that DO matter (basically just Points+Rebounds+Assists), Wiggins is way in the lead.

I'd say Payton, since he has gone through his own way of rookie hell as well. Playing consistently throught-out the season.

Don't be ridicolous, have you seen Grantland podcasts, ESPN reports, media reviews, you think they talk about PER, WS, BPM when discussing this particular award? Keep telling yourself it matters, cause most of people already know it doesn't.

I really could care less if Noel wins it. Didn't exactly do wonders for MCW. Just here for discussion, bud.

keyword: podcast
That means BS report, Jalen & Jacoby, Bill don't lie. In none of them I heard any of them basing ROY purely on advanced stats. Zach Lowe for instance said he would love to say Mirotic but the nature of this award clearly fits more to what Wiggins does/did.
And for triangle article you're also missing the keyword: "The other"

I'm really pissed off Wigs is going to lose the RoY. You can feel the media upswell for Noel, he's going to take it regardless of how good he plays down the stretch.

I don't care about awards, I care about the minutes and Flip is running Wiggins straight into the ground

You're provaly right, but that would be such BS decision, how they are going to give an award to a player that didn't even won a rookie of the month ?
4 different players won in the East.
and,
Since when they started to give the ROY award based on perfomances after the all-star break only ?

Wow just read most of the rookie stuff on the main board for the first time in a while... I don't think I'll be doing that again. The Wiggins hate is just unbearable and so unnecessary

Re: The Andrew Wiggins Thread
Forget the stats for a moment, anyone else realize how often teams have been quick to double wiggins the last 5 or 6 games? Most impressive is the way wiggs is starting to spot the open man quickly or to even spin away from the double. The Laker commentators were loving him yesterday and were confused as to why the the wolves didnt go to him every time down the court (subtle shots at lavine and flip).
If wiggs continues his steep jump as a go to post scorer and distributor; a stretch 4 and some guards that can spread the floor while not being ball dominant is essential. bud has been getting alot clean looks lately. Someone like R. Anderson would be great.
