He wasn't taken by lottery pick, so you got that going.
However Jordan is 3 years older than LaVine, who has great athletic tools and works hard.
Only time will tell.

IMO clarkson had a horrible game before OT where he really struggled to initiate any meaningful offense. When he did get good looks, he missed them. It won't show up anywhere outside of plus minus on the box score though. The offense still gets no where too often and Wayne Ellington ends up chucking a long 2 with 3 seconds left.

His handle is still way too bad to be a full time PG on a respectable team, he has all the tools and shown the aggressiveness to get better, a lot depends on how he comes back from the summer. I wouldn't close the door out on his development until he's atleast 3 years into the league.

Yeah a well balanced lead ball handler takes years before they hit their statistical prime. Scoring lead ball handlers hit those numbers the earliest while I don't have enough info on pure distributors to formulate an accurate opinion. What we're seeing though is that guys who can do both will take something like 5 years in the nba before they hit that 18/8 bench mark, although not a lot of them are 22 years old coming out of college. Clarkson has shown that he has the skillset of a well balanced point guard and I just hope Mitch commits financially after clarkson deal expires next year, even if it means overpaying at first.

A lot of the initial adjustment is to the length of the defense and the speed of the game, once he gets that done like he has done with his floater finding his range, the next step is to maintain a tight handle while probing the defense for cracks. Obviously if he has it in him, the next step would be to direct the offense, I'm not sure if he can do all those things consistently but he has surely been a pleasant surprise so far this season. He did play some of his college eligibility in Tulsa, so I wouldn't take those years into account. He had one season at Missouri, which is possibly the closest thing to a good basketball program he's had prior to the NBA.

He's got a ways to go in his game. He's a fine talent and certainly can score the ball but Nash has to work with him at organizing and running an offense. He has the tools, but that's not his tendencies right now. Ellington was putrid, I like Wayne but that was an awful game.

He won the game by his relentless hussle. It may have been ugly, but he kept on working. That's what I like bout him.
