Niko for 6th man?

Post#1 » by RedBulls23 » Thu Mar 26, 2015 4:04 am

I know this has not been something that has been talked about at all. We talk about how he should be in the ROY conversation, but with his great play in March, could he get into the conversation for 6th man of the year?

With that said, who are the 6th man of the year candidates?

Thoughts?

If Niko was doing what he's doing for a longer period of time, yeah he'd be in the convo. But he hasn't had the opportunity.

Lou Williams or Isiah Thomas would get my vote.

Nah, If Niko's stats aren't ROY worthy why would he be up for 6MOY? If I had a vote it wouldn't be close. Niko get's ROY w/ Elfrid Payton a distant 2nd and Andrew Wiggins 3rd.

It's 6th man of the year, not 6th man of the last two months of the season. Same thing for rookie of the year.

Who cares if he gets an individual award. He's playing well for us now, that's all that matters.

I think its an interesting discussion, same with ROY. But at the end of the day you are right. Niko, for a variety of reasons most out of his control, has had two seasons. He's not going to win an award for the second one, with the first one being ignored.

Nah, Niko won't win 6th man, nor does he deserve it. I don't see anyone outside of Jamal Crawford or Isaiah Thomas winning this one.

If he can be a passable pick and roll defender and be more determined in contact to fight over the top of screens...then absolutely

So which of Noah and Pau is headed to the bench?

Or do you think the Niko at the 3 experiment has gone well enough that he could start there, rather than just play it when matchups allow?

Niko's award to lose next season, especially if Taj is moved.

I'd prefer for him to play as the 6th man, not a starter.

Pau

But Pau finishes with Niko , Buckets , Snell and Rose .

I like Pau as a rim protector one on one or as a help defender on post ups however where he's weak is on dribble penetration and the perimeter has been broken . In half court grind down which most playoff hoops is about...especially in the 4th ..a slower paced more deliberate half court offense suits him much better on both ends of the floor
