Re: Choseph Smith - the Rich Cho Thread
I'm not a huge fan of a lot of what Cho has done and kind of worry about his ability to build a modern NBA team that fits together, but one thing that I like about Cho is that I know he'll keep an eye on the future. I don't have to worry about some new guy coming in and trading an unprotected first for Tyreke Evans or whatever crazy win-now, future-disregarding moves that guys like Higgins and whoever the schlub making decisions for the Pelicans would make.

Although Calipari is more knowledgeable than Clifford and maybe would fair better in the modern NBA than he did in the past, he's not the coach that this Hornets' team need to push the envelope. It would be a waste of financial spending to hire Calipari based on his name & reputation. All hearsay anyway, because Calipari wouldn't return to the NBA unless he got to coast/coach with LeBron James to a deep playoff run. Calipari is a frontrunner, excellent recruiter though

Agree to agree on all fronts. We're saying the same thing so no need to go back and forth. Woulda been amazing had we been able to steal Joerger from the Grizzlies. It was smart yet controversial of them to cut bait with Hollins to promote Joerger. Probably what we shoulda done with Clifford for Price. Lol

I don't understand why folks act like Price has done enough to be given the head coaching job. Every assistant coaching job Price has had just entailed teaching shooting technique. He's never stuck anywhere and we have no evidence that he has what it takes to be an NBA head coach.

To be honest I'm not sold on Price succeeding Clifford if it had happened. I just threw it out there as a light joke. Never know tho, Price might be great or he might be a dud. I think some of us just threw his name out there as a interim coach that could hold the fought down if we fired Cliff and you never know he coulda been the next Vogel or better. That's how Vogel took over the Pacers.

I gotcha, can get with that, just seemed like I had seen it from a number of folks.
I still am completely on the fence as to what needs to be done to fix this team. I'm very, very interested to see what this offseason looks like.

Re: Choseph Smith - the Rich Cho Thread
Cho's offseason checklist
* Convince Jefferson to opt out and resign him to a 5 year, max deal.
* Convince Henderson to opt out and resign him to another 3 year contract, but with a well deserved raise.
* Let Mo Williams walk w/out offering a contract even if he wants to stay. Don't even bother negotiating.
* Don't make any offers for Biyombo. Let him go out and find a team and sign a deal, then maybe match, but probably not.
* Don't agree to a contract extension with MKG, instead, gamble that he gets worse and then try to sign him to a cheaper deal next summer.
* Resign Jason Maxiel
* Resign Jannero Pargo (if healthy)
* With the 1st round pick, draft a young power forward, one to groom for the future or a defensive-minded wing with the 1st round pick. Or better, trade the pick for an established, high character veteran, someone like Jared Dudley or Kirk Hinrich
* Trade any 2nd round picks, current or future for cash considerations.
* Give Clifford a 3 year contract extension.
* Promote Larry Jordan to Super Duper President of Player Personal.
* Trade Lance Stephenson, Cody Zeller + our 2017 1st round pick (unprotected) to the Pacers for George Hill and Ian Mahinmi
* Play ping pong

I'm unsure on how sarcastic or serious you were with this post, but I think at least 40% of it will come to fruition

I think Calipari would need his whole platoon of Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Derrick Rose/John Wall/Eric Bledsoe, and MKG to be successful in the NBA. We already have MKG. Hell, maybe he'll even bring CDR back to Charlotte. Either way, the funny part of this whole Calipari returning to the NBA talk hold no weight unless David Blatt get back on the hot seat in Cleveland

The thing is almost all of this is plausible, save for trading a 1st round pick for a mediocre vet.

Why do you guys hate Kaminsky so much? God knows we need some shooters. I haven't watched him play, so what are the big concerns? Is everyone just worried that he is too slow to guard power forwards and not big enough to play center?

He reminds me too much of Spencer Hawes, slightly better shooter, slightly less mass. He didn't impress again UNC's quasi-NBA front line. He did get a bunch of them in foul trouble though, but he won't get those calls in the pros. My main problem is that I don't think he'll be much of a C and we already have Zeller/Vonleh at the 4. Either take a real C (Cauley-Stein) or preferably a wing since we need a backup to MKG and/or an upgrade at SG

well, for what its worth, I can't imagine we draft another power forward, unless its in the top 3 and someone that we just can pass.
