On Gary Payton II

Post#1 » by Doctor Flow » Thu Mar 26, 2015 5:19 pm

What do you guys think of Gary Payton II? He is Gary Payton's son. Very good defensively. He is projected to go 2nd round. I think he has great value in the 2nd round with a 2nd round salary. Will definitely be a Patrick Beverly type of player which is important to teams.

I think he can make a name for himself in the NBA as an elite defender with the right system. Great value in the second round in my opinion.

Would be a good pickup for the Cavs, depending on where they pick. Pretty ideal backup PG for them.

I agree. he is really athletic, better leaper than his father, good rebounder and not a horrible shooter. I think he will stick in the NBA. Not sure he will come out or not? Could be a pretty quality back up PG / Combo guard.

Maybe he can be a Tony Allen type of player? Woudn´t mind if Grizzlies drafts him in the 2nd round

He is a legit PG. much better ball handler than Tony Allen. I think he can be a really solid back up PG who causes trouble on D. good value for a 2nd rounder. I am not sure that he is declaring this year though?

Kevin Pelton on David Locke's podcast was saying he thought this guy looked like he could be the second round steal of the draft this year. Amazing rebounding and defense numbers.

Pretty awesome at everything except shooting, I love him and would reach for him at 26 honestly. It looks like he's not going until the 2nd though

I would say that GP2's ceiling is Rondo... but I doubt he'll end up solid enough offensively to make it. Tony Allen at the PG might be a more realistic comp.

He's a freak athletically, a real lock down defender, blocks shots & rebounds at the PG position. Super aggressive and great in transition. Unfortunately his jumper is somewhere between broken and not good, so he can't really space the floor.

He'll go end of the 1st / Early second. He's probably a year away from being the backup PG... but he should be a solid backup PG by the start of next year.
