Quoted from another forum

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/losangeles/play

Rewind to the 12:45 - 12:55 mark.

Mason: "You know Jimmy, you're friends with Jim Buss. You guys talk on the phone and text. if push come to shove who would Jim pick? Would he take Okafor or would he take Russel?"

Shelburne: "Maybe neither."

Mason: "Get out of here, what? If thy have the #1 pick it would be one of those two."

Shelburne: "The kid from Kentucky is pretty good. He has a higher ceiling, Karl. I think if Phil had the #1 he'd pick Okafor who can help him right now. But if the Lakers get the #1 they... but you know I don't think Lakers are getting the #1 pick, it will likely be 4th."

Right now, my board is pretty set for the Lakers.

1.) KAT
2.) Okafor
3.) Russell
4.) Mudiay
5.) Trade Down
6a.) Porzingis
6b.) WCS
6c.) Hezonja

Sounds like Melo Trimble is leaning towards returning to school.

Good read by Aldridge. Interesting how he has Muliday ahead of Russell though, especially since its not merely his opinion but the opinion of many scouts and executives as he mentioned. I thought that Russell was undisputedly supposed to go higher than Muliday. If we have the third pick with the bigs out, do you guys want Russell or Muliday? I think Russell is a better fit next to Clarkson, less of a risk, but Muliday isn't getting talked about enough (Im sure this article will change that).

Honestly, We just need to get that top 4 pick. I don't see anyone after 4 having franchise player potential.

It was also interesting to read about the point guards projected to go later. I think we may have a chance at snatching up a decent player with the Houston pick and/or the early second pick. I would assume that we would draft atleast one point guard with those picks if we go with a big man in the early pick, but if we get one of the guards, I wonder what direction the FO would go.

Man I'm so excited for this draft, but I have to keep reminding myself to chill because with our luck lately who knows if we keep the pick. Either way, we couldn't have expected this season to go any better, minus the Randle injury. The Kobe injury was a blessing disguise, and we may just get a cornerstone piece as a result of it, not to mention Clarkson becoming another core piece.

Seriously ......who wants to be Mitch right now? lol

I bet most of you think you could make the perfect pick but i will tell you if he misses by one pick or 35 he will be roasted. Meaning if our pick turns out to be not as good as the next guy picked or even worse the guy picked 25th after or whatever.

Tough job this time of year ..you gotta rely on your scouts a whole lot.

From what i see the top 10 guys on most peoples radar the order differs so much from one analysts to the next in regards to "POTENTIAL"

I have specifically been watching every Duke game to get a feel for OAK and i like him as everyone else but i see him needing 3 to 4 years to really grow into his potential if that. He looks like he will be great but still a bit soft, not a good free throw or short range jump shooter.

I will be honest if i had to make the pick i'd freeze because its so hard to judge talent today that you may not see flourish for another few years

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson:

Best case: Richard Jefferson
Average case: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist with better passing
Worst case: Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

Thoughts?

Good post. I think this is why it's best to just scout each and every player, make a list, and relax until the lottery results come in.

Let's say that we get the 5th pick, and Okafor, Towns, Russell, and Mudiay are gone at that point. Would you be ok with Mario Hezonja? I mean, we need a SF (I can't take any more Ryan Kelly at the 3) and he seems to be really talented and athletic. It does sound like Hezonja has something of an ego problem, but it's nothing that Kobe can't fix.

At that juncture you go with Stanley (top SF) or WCS (Chandler) at 5... In reality, we may lose this pick if we keep screwing around... Wins against Philly & Minny are unacceptable...

The moment that you realize that your team is tanking is when those words are uttered.

I'd eat my hat if Stanley Johnson gets drafted ahead of Hezonja.

If stanley is gone by 5 and we have the pick then we should consider ourselves fortunate.

So you think he's a surefire top 5?

Where do you guys think the biggest gulf in this draft is?

Between 2 and 3?

4 and 5?

I keep wondering do we just know more about this draft class? Or does it seem pretty stacked at the top 5?
