We all know Paul is closing out his magnificent HOF career.
And his overall stats this year remain remarkable: 12.4 on 45.2% & 39.6% & 58.6% TS%.
And he has hit MANY clutch shots for this team.
And for the 10 games immediately preceding the last 4 games, he was scoring even more & shooting 55-60% from 3.
And then for the last 4 games, he has **** VANISHED from the face of the earth - 5 **** points a game! Are u **** kidding me? Has he finally run out of gas at age 37 1/2? Is he hurt & not advertising it (which has happened before)? Many posters on my Celtics Board have incorrectly & very prematurely counted him out over the years, & then voila, he goes on a run of All Star/All Pro play - even when he was 35+ years old.
What the hell is going on now? Even his biggest supporter on the planet is getting concerned. This team is going NOWHERE unless he starts bringing it again & supporting WallStar. I am very frustrated!
Well here has been my position and it still is.
This is common of HOF vet running their last mile. They can still do it. They just can't do it on a regular basis. The car is running out of gas. PP has a great multi game run recently. You just have to know, those runs will only last 4-5 games at a time. You have to know that.
So its the coaches job to sense that. When they are on. When they don't have it.
And its the coaches job to keep them rested.
This is why I say.. Its Wall and Gortat first. 95% of the time. Then one of..... PP gets the first crack. If he can't do it that night, pull him early. Like at 8 mins. I would insert Otto as glue for defense and rebounds and turn to Beal to fill that slot as the 3rd piece. When Beal is out. You turn to Rasual or Webster get Gooden in early. Even Kevin can help some nights.
I still believe Webster could help there but you have to give him minutes to be able to step up into that role. Get him in with the starters. Thats when he is best. He has done it plenty of times before and he still can. But Webster is a rhythm player he needs minutes to get in his flow. And he needs shots. He plays off players. Using him to generate offense with the 2nd unit is worse then him being a 3rd, 4th option with the starters.
Actually, Temple is much the same way and we saw that earlier this year. Rasual did it for a while as well.
None are full time starting 3rd pieces. But they all can get on multi game roles. We saw that from Rasual and Temple. And Beal isn't always hurt so you can turn to him. And Gooden has stepped up nicely several times.
This team has plenty of pieces to be much better. Wall and Gortat have been in every game this year.
Its just... RANDY IS AN IDIOT.
