Hornets Logos and Branding

Post#1 » by yosemiteben » Mon Mar 30, 2015 3:45 pm

As the season has gone on, I've gotten less and less happy with our primary logo. To me it feels too boxy, when I see it on TV (whether on the court or as a graphic) and when I go to games it looks like a big purple square. I don't think it's terrible, but I don't like it as much as I did when it first came out. I have always liked our secondary logo more and would prefer to change things up next season to include it on the arena floor (fat chance I'm sure).

What are folks thoughts on the logo choices after going through most of the first season?

I still dig the uniforms, though I actually like our teal more than our purple and wish teal was the dedicated away uni. I'm not in love with the stripes on just one side, but I'm ok with them. I'm not sure if I'd want to change anything about them. I'm pretty excited about the potential for throwback jerseys though, I hope that happens at some point.

I don't have a problem with the primary logo, but I like the secondary more. I actually really like the look of our practice court. IMO we have the best jerseys in the game. I wish we could wear our non-white jerseys every single game. Just alternating between purple and teal. Side note, white uniforms in general are lame. Games should feature both teams wearing their away jerseys more often.

the secondary logo is better. Both are great, but the side logo is amazing.

I like the secondary better but both are fine with me. The shirt I got right away was black with the secondary logo on it. I also prefer the teal and some of that is the secondary logo on the shorts.

Put the Hornets name on that 2nd logo and it will start feeling boxy too IMHO. The biggest visual issue with the primary log is the wings over name visual creating the box impression you mention.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't like the secondary logo as much. Love the primary one though.

I still like the first one better. The second one is nice but I wouldn't want it on the court. I'm not a fan of asymmetrical logos being used at half court.

I prefer the primary logo, but the secondary one is also top-notch.

I'd also like to second the suggestion Benjamin Linus made to alternate between the teal and purple jerseys and phase out the white one. The white one just looks too plain to me, the other two are perfect. I especially like how the teal jersey says "Charlotte" up front instead of "Hornets", I'd prefer for all of them to be that way.

I love both. Honestly, there isn't anything that I don't like about the rebranding. They did an awesome job.
