knick fans... Is quincy acy trash?? seems like he could dominate the boards, play D and shoot a high percentage but he's not playing a lot.

i think he's a really great guy to have on your roster (as a minimum contract 3rd-stringer)

hey all, new to realgm - just wandering who you guys think should be in the squad next year before considering the draft + free agency. felt the need to post after reading following article:

I dont necessarily agree that hardaway JR and Early need to be traded for Lamb and Thanasis to be called up to the NYK.

I think the knicks should enter 2015 looking as follows (player positions based on espn), in no particular order

PG. Calderon / Shved / Galloway ---------------- let larkin go
SG. HardawayJR / Lamb / ? ----------------------
SF. Anthony / Early / Thanasis ------------------ let Acy, Thomas, Wear go
PF. Amundson / Smith / ? ------------------------
C. Bargnani / Aldrich / ? -------------------------

Having this basis, it makes it easier to identify where to strengthen based on both quantity and quality.

PG. it looks like Rondo isnt meshing well in Dallas, though i think he'll end up with Lakers with Love. So i guess for 2015 were covered with the hope of uprading in 2016.
SG. If we could get through free agency/trade one or two out of afflalo(declines Player option as free agent or picks up player option and we trade for him), wes mathews (as free agent), iguoadala (via trade since G.S.W need to shed contracts, i think it will be harder for them to get rid of Lee), danny green (as free agent from Spurs)
SF. Im fine with the option here, since with a healthy anthony he should have the majority of the minutes here and prob only needs bench players to give him a breather.
PF. Brandon Bass (through free agency), and take a wild shot at taj gibson via trade.(thibodeau is rumoured to leave chicago + if Rose has more injury issues they will need to sacrifice front court depth, quality{Noah, Gasol, Mirotic, Gibson} for backcourt depth, quality {rose/brooks/butler/hinrich}.
C. In my opinion the draft pick has to be a center since its highly unlikely to get a game changer through free agency. (Towns)
except if the pick can somehow get Cousins, then im all in. I would also go after someone like Koufos in free agency if the contract is
decent enough and move bargnani to PF. since Pjax seems to think he's worth keeping around (hopefully for minimum). Monroe would be a viable option if he signs on a deal to what paul millsap signed on at Atlanta with.

Sorry for the lenght of my post, but what you guys take on the team base and what acquisitions the team should make to complete the roster ?

I wont say he is trash, most NBA players are not all stars or top level players.. most are good at one or two things only and play in a system that maximize their strengths.

Quincy Acy is an under size PF, and a sometimes SF. Because of his 6'7? 230 frame he is really a SF but on offense he doesn't have ball handling, range (he has gotten better) and on defense he doesn't have the foot speed to stay in front of quick SF's.

So to answer your questions; No he doesn't and can't dominate the boards consistently, he is too small and gets boxed out easily. Can stay with PF's but they over power him and he has trouble guarding the quicker SF's. He has potential to shoot a high fg% but that depends on a system, in the triangle system because of his limited ball handle, he shoots too many jumpers, which he has improve on but is still not a strength. He makes teams on his hustle and scrape defensive effort.
Really remind me of RIP Jerome Kersey, which I think is his ceiling. He is a tweener, similar to Luc Mhote Mhu? And Dante Cunningham. .. and what Matt Barnes and others were before they started to get lighter and expand their offensive game.

He has to put in work to improve his hands, ball handle and basic dribble drive moves to the basket first. He should also add a pull up jumper. He is too small to be a full time PF. Right now he is best in a running uptempo team, not half court triangle offense...Might not be on the Knicks next year... Only 25 but has only one to two years left to get it together...

Why not both? The cap goes up again in time to add another star (Durant) and have a sixth man in Harris plus core players in Green and Monroe.

This guy was undrafted in 2011. I will sign him to a summer league contract. I think if we pick Okafor this guy can play the PF and play for a better contract

I don't want either of those as our lineup next year and i don't want Shump back either. I never thought i'd say that cause i was a huge Shump fan when we drafted him but that all went away at the end of last season.
