I won't miss Layman if he leaves.

Honestly, I don't think anyone should leave the Terps. The way Layman finished the season, a team would have to be crazy to pick him in the first round. He'd have to really just hate going to school to leave MD. Trimble MIGHT be a late first, but he's got a good chance to improve on that - and with 2 new studs to throw the ball to, he can double his assists next season. The backups should stay because they've got a chance to play for a title contender. Cekovsky should stay because Stone is likely a 1 and done, and Cekovsky can start the year after. It's a win/win for everyone.

1.) Inside sources say Layman isn't a big fan of school in general and that's why he's exploring his options but I suspect he'll be back.

2.) Trimble is a legit a 6-3. Or 6-2 and a half. I've stood right next to him and I'm 5-11.

Trimble will be back. He's just doing his due dilligence. Smart move.

Layman wasn't a fan of school in his first year. If he leaves, the program will survive. Trimble is a different story. I just don't think the kid is ready and the NBA is not in love with him from what I hear.

Don't worry. Trimble has smart people advising him. He's not leaving.

He has said the only way he'd leave is if he's a guaranteed lottery pick.

Folks around the program expect him to leave after next season.

He's not ready but what kid doesn't think he's ready for the NBA? He was thinking about it mid-season, I guarantee it, when he was destroying the Big 10 and getting a lot of calls going to the basket. I know he'd said he'd only leave if he was going lottery, then why even consider it? Why put it out there?

It's funny, but watching all these great 30-for-30 specials about Laettner and the NC State championship team made me think that we'll never see players like that again. Everybody blames the NBA for the one-and-done rule, but nobody is forcing these kids to come out. There's nothing wrong with staying in school an extra year or two and growing physically and mentally. Think it's all fun and games in the NBA playing 82 games and 100+ wth playoffs, exhibition, and summer league? All the travel and back-to-backs? Just look at the Wiz. That team sure looks like they're having fun.

Put what out there? Trimble's just doing his due dilligence. Personally, I have no problem with it.

IF Trimble's guaranteed to be a lottery pick I can't fault him for leaving.....but he won't be so it's not an issue.

One good thing is Trimble can use this opportunity to pick the brain of the NBA advisory boards, learn what he needs to work on etc.

Yeah, you would.

Layman is very athletic. Just needs to be more aggressive. He played like that earlier in the season when Dez was out.

I suspect you'll see THAT guy next year.

Also, Layman can space the floor and we're gonna need that with Stone/Carter.

Just imagine the kind of looks from 3 Layman will get next year.

Just nasty.

Maryland Is Expected To Push Hard For Drexel Transfer Damion Lee, Who Averaged 21 Points and 6 Rebounds This Last Season

Maryland - According to multiple reports, Drexel shooting guard Damion Lee will transfer from the program. Lee plans to graduate in June, which will allow him to transfer to a new school without sitting out a season. The 6-foot-6 wing, who attended high school at Calvert Hall in Baltimore and played AAU basketball with D.C. Assault, was named first-team all-CAA this past season after averaging 21.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He shot 38.5 percent from three and 88.7 percent from the free throw line. Lee sat out the majority of the previous year with a knee injury, allowing him to receive a medical redshirt, and suffered a broken hand at the end of the 2014-15 season. In addition to having a need for an athletic wing to replace Dez Wells, there’s also a number of connections between the staff and Lee. Maryland special assistant Juan Dixon also was a star shooting guard at Calvert Hall and graduating senior Jon Graham attended Calvert Hall at the same time as Lee. Lee and Melo Trimble are also from the same AAU program.

This is fascinating news that Damion Lee is transferring from Drexel. Guy tore up the CAA last season, averaging better than 21 and 6 per game. He is the perfect piece for Maryland. Even though nothing is close to being official, I have to declare the Terps as the frontrunners to land him. He’s from Baltimore. He played for prestigious AAU team DC Assault. And he will perfectly fill in the role Dez Wells is leaving. Add in that he only has 1 year of eligibility left, why wouldn’t he come to Maryland and play aside Melo Trimble and stud 5 star center Diamond Stone? If he’s serious about winning, Maryland makes perfect sense. Without him (under the assumption Melo and Jake Layman both return) Maryland is a top 5 team in the country. With him? All bets are off the table. They’d have a chance to be the dirtiest Terps we’ll ever see.

No. I won't. Not if Jake isn't committed to being a Terrapin. Layman is lacking heart, not athleticism or potential game.

He was great when Dez Wells was out.

I can't read tweets using RealGM Forums mobile app. Not sure why Layman would leave. He's in line to be a senior leader on a top 5 team.

If he leaves that's on him.

I don't see why Layman would leave either. He's got no shot at the NBA. Stay in school and be a senior leader for a team that could win it all(especially with the new recruiting class coming in)and then take your shot at the NBA next year.

Lady Terps are awesome but can't see anyone beating UConn.

Lady Terps can pack light.

No change of clothes necessary for the day after the U Conn game.

They better bring a sling shot. The Lady Husky team is a giant.

Scouting report for future Terp Kiah Gillespie:

Agile, versatile faceup-4 prospect with a scorer's mentality; handles in transition, finishes plays on break; reads and breaks down defender, elevates with soft touch in mid-range game; physical in block, competes on glass; among the elite scoring forwards in the nation.

Scouting report for future Terp Brianna Fraser:

Ultra-athletic faceup-4 with explosive footwork, first-step attack; hangs, draws contact, finishes in traffic; extremely active on glass; among the elite frontcourt performers in the nation and a mismatch nightmare for opponents

Yeah UMD will be a pre season top 10, maybe top 5, and favorite to win the B10. Probably gonna be the best MD team since the 01-02 team that won it all(although no Juan Dixons on this team).
