What the hell do you want Shumpert back for? **** him.

Give that money to someone who can actually play, like Danny Green.

Danny Green for 12M+
Iman Shumpert for 5M

You want to spend our whole cap on Green?

Koufos
Towns
Melo
Green
Calderon

or
Asik
Towns
Melo
Shumpert
Calderon

Neither...if Green comes with a $12 mil/yr pricetag, you move on. Cleveland would match Shumpert at a $5 million clip since they're over the cap and wouldn't have the means to replace an able body. But that's all that Shumpert is, an able body. Nothing special who couldn't grasp the triangle. We moved on, so should you.

And why in the world do we continue to post lineups with Omer Asik? The guy is a net negative on offense, worse than Chandler (who at least could catch a lob). Why is it that we have cap space for a Max + player and we continue to settle for one-way players? Haven't we learned our lesson?

It really amazes me what has been proposed by many of the well respected posters on these boards.

Smh, Shump is a back up, not a starter. Green will likely be less then 12m more like 9 to 10 million. Rather Robin over Asik or Koufos

For the sake of not getting my hopes up for top 2 (regardless of our chances) I have us drafting Russell in this scenario and planning for worse case. (With exception of moving Jose and Tim)

Russell/Lang/Shved
Green/Russell/Lang
Carroll/Early/Thanasis
Melo/Amir/Amundsen
Robin/Aldrich

I think every FA is about to get PAID in all caps. No fear of repeater tax, cap going up etc. Green won't be paid by the Spurs, but someone is going to give him a nice fat wallet.

IM afraid you are right

and I also think were gonna see a lot of 1 year deals with player options in year two so people can take advantage of the exploding cap

Agree... we can also give out a similar two year P.Option "Lebron" contract to a Star player... not as much money though... to maybe a LMA/Gasol leave the west, try NY for a year, east is weaker, get paid big buck year two with NY... their current teams might be hesitate on giving out two year player option after one yr deals. Since we are building Im sure Phil will have no problem with this.

If we use the stretch provision on Calderon, I think we will be able to fit R. Lopez, Danny Green and Carroll in our $29mil cap space. Not sexy acquisitions but is consistent with Fish's statement that we will be prioritizing defense in FA.

my fantasy has been that we move Calderon and THjr in a trade that brings us no salary and we convince LMA and Gasol to both come on 1 year deals

combined with Mudiay or Russell

what is so funny about that? rudy is just flat out good. He's 22 years old, 7'1 with a PER of 21.77 in just his second season. heck he's averaging 9.2 boards and 2.3 blocks in 25 freaking minutes per game.

his last 5 games (via espn) : 14.4 pts 13.6 rebs 2.8 blks with 61.5 % FG. And he will make a laughable 1.175 mil next season.

I actually think utah wouldn't make that trade...

I would consider it for Rudy Gobert and Utah's pick if it ends up in the top 6.

or... they keep Gobert, and give us Exum, Favors and their pick (8-10) for Calderon and our pick (top4)
Favors
Kaminsky
Melo
Hardaway
Exum
and..... my favorite part
replace G5 with "Derek Favors" and "my best friend" with "top pick in the draft"

Horford and Towns would be a nasty front court for sure!

I wish we could somehow pry Cousins away

sucks hes not a FA

Towns and Cousins - wow

and I know it seems like Im all Towns and not Okafor but thats just because Towns compliments more players and Okafor needs lesser players to compliment his game

Okafor and Robin Lopez or Milsap or Asik or Bass or Monroe or Speights - etc

they won't - they have the Niets pick and the Niets are probably gonna squeak into the playoffs

besides, LA is getting Okafor

With Towns being my favorite I believe we need to be at Monroe's doorstep first opportunity. Gives you a young big you can build the triangle around while waiting on Towns. Honesty I don't believe Towns is not ready but thats for us to discover. Towns meanwhile makes Monroe less of a liability defensively. Before anyone says he sucks look at his win shares.
