Super!

Yep, Cliff is going to be play him anyway though, probably killing our playoff chances in the process(

I got the exact opposite impression from Clifford's comment. This statement gives him cover to do the exact opposite and get Biz some minutes as a way to groom him if Al opts out which is, despite our fears, still a real possibility Lord have mercy on us.

I hope you're right in the long run. It seemed like he leaned heavily on Al last game, even when we had a nice stretch with Biz and the second unit early in the game.

Biz definitely needs the minutes. I'm not even convinced that our offense tanks with Al on the bench, it's not like we're elite when he's on the floor either. Some nights he's 12/17 and that's great, but he also has plenty of 24 pt nights on 9/23 shooting (he was especially bad about this early in the year). Cliff's man-crush for Al is strong. They have exchanged mixtapes, of that much I am certain.

Can we speculate what songs would be on these bromance mixtapes between Clifford and Al?

I imagine Clifford being a jazz kind of guy. With that in mind the tape Cliff gave Al almost certainly includes Kenny Burrell's "Both Feet on the Ground".

I don't have a good feel for Al's musical tastes, but it was definitely something offensive. (rimshot)

So you don't think Clifford started Al's mix tape with Van Halen's "Jump"?

Dude needs to be brought off the bench so he can pad those stats against 2nd unit defenses and actually be productive.

Would fit in perfectly with the whole "Charlotte Jazz" thing we've got going.

I can envision Cliff serenading Al with a heartfelt rendition of "Nothing Compares to You".

via hoopshype's 2015 NBA FA list:
11. Al Jefferson LATEST RUMORS
Player Option / Center / 6-10 / Team: Charlotte
17.2 ppg, 8.8 rpg
His low-post repertoire is almost unparalelled in the NBA these days. Fantastic touch around the basket. Defense is better than it used to be.

Man, I hope other teams' GMs are smoking the same thing as hoopshype so Al definitely opts out and gets that money (from not Charlotte).

Jefferson is going to be on this team next year, but I think he can still improve. Mainly in one area. Free throw attempts. Hes not even close to being top 40 in the league in FTA's. Never tries to draw contact. He needs to watch some tape on Cousins and see how its done. According to this hes not even in the top 24. Centers like Jordan Hill are head of him. http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/playe ... on/centers

Not sure if thats right though. He averages 2.5 a game which would put him right above Maurice freaking Speights. For a guy to get as many touches as he gets he needs to improve on that drastically. Would help us so much.

I think I remember seeing the Jazz fans having the same discussions about Al, don't think he's ever been one to draw free throws.

cant really see him changing now.

He needs to take some acting classes then. Or do something. His points per possession is pathetic because he never goes to the line.

Al hates contact, he'll never change. He stacks his paper thick with those pretty ballerina post moves.

Yeah, Al has never shot many free throws, and he's never going to stop thinking he is the post god and try shooting through double teams and ignoring wide open shooters. If he is so injured that he can barely move, let alone spin, then he'll look to make passes out of the post. He'll still insist on playing even though he is literally 100% dead wait when he's injured.

I'm pretty sure he'll be on our team next season too, but I still hate it. I would not want this guy on my team under any circumstances.

He never drew fouls in Minnesota either.

It's pretty generous to refer to anyone other than Marvin or Mo on this team as a shooter.

Al just isn't an efficient scorer, the type of shots he takes he isn't going to make a very high % of them and they're all 2 point shots. He doesn't supplement his scoring with FT's either because he avoids contact with his post moves. even when gets to the line he doesn't make them at a high rate, just 66% this season and 71% for his career he did shoot 77% in Utah but i think that has to do with the altitude of Salt Lake City the season before Utah he shot 68% and when he left (last season) he shot 69%.

The only way its better than it used to be is if Utah didn't even require him to cross half court on defense and instead just let him hang out under the offensive basket 40 minutes a night.
