Hoping he develops into more of a distributor... he also seems a half step slow on defense.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Dinwiddie's ACL isn't back to 100% yet. Those injuries aren't nearly as serious these days as they used to be but it still takes a good amount of time to fully return to form for most guys. That, and he's still learning to be a distributor. His last abbreviated season at Colorado was the first one where he was in that role. I like where Dinwiddie is at all things considered, but he still has a ways to go.

I'm reading all this, but based only on what we've seen on the court this year:

1) His shooting sucks... it looks fine, but it doesn't go in
2) His defense is solid with potential for more with experience
3) His passing looks quite good, and his turnovers are pretty low, too... he looks like a floor general

That's kind of funny, considering all of those are probably the opposite of what we expected out of him this year.

i am not suprised at his shooting, the jump from the NBA is big as far as 3 point and he's a rookie. Form is there so its reasonable to expect improvement. I didn't think he's show this much poise and pace, which is encouraging. I hate to say it, but Dinwiddie is prime player to be traded. I hope we don't

Dinwiddie is still a nice project. He didn't see any meaningful minutes until Jennings went down, and is still figuring it out.

his shooting has been awful this year but that's not all that surprising considering that it's a difficult transition for rookies to shoot the nba 3, let alone ones that barely practiced all offseason leading up to their rookie year.

Dinwiddie has a good shooting form, shoots free throws very well (31/34 this year, 83% in college) and shot well from 3 in college as well (almost 39% including two years over 40%). I'm confident that Dinwiddie's shot will improve naturally as he practices in the offseason, and all signs point to him being a good shooter in the future.


the big thing for him is that he needs to penetrate more. he really struggles turning the corner when going around picks, and although he was never the most athletic player he still might be a little slower than usual from his rehab. if this is as quick as he'll be then he needs to learn how to get to the basket more creatively, hopefully by using his size (long first step) and some combination of hesitation dribbles. an absurd 78% (132/169) of his shots this year have been jump shots, with about half of them coming from far out. that just highlights how perimeter-oriented his game has been this year.

During his rookie year I commented often on Afflalos poise. He made very few rookie mistakes, showed defensive potential and had decent form despite not shooting particularly well.

Obviously they play different positions, but I see a lot of similarities there.

A solid shooter in college coming back from an ACL and adjusting to the NBA game. So far, for the most part, his biggest problem is poor shooting. There is certainly reason to hope that he will find his footing in the league, and with further strength and conditioning work improve his floor game. No guarantees of course, but for a second round flier, he's doing okay. No need to be in a rush to draw conclusions about Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie needs to hit the weight room... he can't absorb any contact that's the main thing. His poise and ability to get to spots is great though, he just has to hold his weight better. I'm really excited about Spencer

Yeah I was thinking the same thing a while back. It's probably a good thing though assuming his shot and knee can only get better.

The only thing missing from his game,is his shot,once he can start becoming more consistent on the offense end,who knows where it will take him in the scheme of things.
