C.lupus wrote:"Showing up" might be a little harsh. I do think he shows up every game but he definitely likes playing in big spotlight games and matchups and puts out a little extra effort in those games. All young players need to learn how to play with consistent effort for 82 games. I'm not worried about it.

and the response you get is based off of a fallacy. Not surprised.

Wiggins has defended 100+ isolation possessions this year. The only wing player entrusted to defend more isos is eventual DPOTY Daymond Green. Compound that with Wiggins' distance traveled stats, that's insane mileage.
Of the 35 players who've defended more than 80 iso possessions this season, Wiggins is 10th in points per poss allowed (0.78), 16th in eFG against (41.9%), 14th in turnovers forced (9.9%), and 1st in least shooting fouls committed (4%).
Of the 50 players who've defended the most PnRs, Wiggins is 7th in PPP allowed (0.71), 5th in eFG against (37.4%); unfortunately he's not as successful in turnovers forced or shooting fouls committed here. But the Wolves as a team rate terribly in PnR defense, particularly Gorgui Dieng, who's been the only available true big man all year, and the guy they traded for to teach them this kind of **** has suited up for just five ******* games.

Its basically eye test vs advanced stats to establish a players value.
The problems are that they cherry pick stats and dump on Wiggs for not carrying a Dleague team to the playoffs in the West.
Got this from another board where I think he got the stats from sportsvueWiggins has defended 100+ isolation possessions this year. The only wing player entrusted to defend more isos is eventual DPOTY Daymond Green. Compound that with Wiggins' distance traveled stats, that's insane mileage.

So, he has played the most minutes, but he just doesnt get the ball enough. Wiggs is top 20 in fta per game as a rookie that alone tells me that he is aggressive, but doesnt get enough touches in the offence.
His usg% is 4or 5th on the team (Rubio, Martin, Bazz and Lavine are all higher), yet still produces. Its almost as if they are looking at Lavines boxscores and not Wiggins. And the raw numbers he does produce, is often against their best wing defender and the double.
Defensively, a wing defender is only as good as the system and frontcourt, both to which Wiggs has none. Wiggs has basically been left on an island to fend for himself against the leagues best, boxscore watchers dont give him enough credit for that.

"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''
