Or Lopez could call for the ball.
I can't remember the last big man with his amount of talent be so passive when it comes to demanding the ball. You don't see Lopez setup a lot and they just refuse to give it to him.
Basketball 101 is that you don't give your big guy the ball in the post until they established position and you can make a clear pass to him. If Lopez actually demanded the ball more, I'm sure he wouldn't go through so many long stretches where he's not turning over the ball.
One of the reasons why he works well with D-Will is because D-Will decides to run those PnP plays which are designed for Lopez to get the ball off the bounce and do something with it. But if you leave it up to Lopez, he'd almost never call his own number. He's gotta start doing that and not just wait for his teammates to give it to him whenever they want to do so.
the problem is lopez in situations where you give it to him and ask him to score 1 on 1 is not all that good of a player. sure once and a while you dump it to him but those situations usually result in worse shots and/or ball stopping. he too often takes a dirk fade, a stand still banker or a hook shoot pushed way far outside.
his face ups are pretty solid t, but his back to the basket needs work. wish he would adopt that drop step move. with his size it should be his go to on the block.
either way, im fine with brook getting 20+ FGA a game, but i want 95% of those to be the catch and go variety, and very few if any beeing on isos
