Have We Become a "Treadmill Team"
I say no, we have young stars such as Butler and Mirotic. Have that hope if everyone comes back healthy we could do big things, or if Gibson is moved for the right piece next year. But the feeling on the general board is that the Bulls are in treadmill land. So what does everyone here think?

You mean like one of those weightless treadmills injured players use for rehab?
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

I think we are certainly a step above treadmill, but I will say that I think the FO has some very important offseasons coming up. Will be very interesting to see what they do as Rose, Noah, and Taj's contracts expire. We could certainly become a treadmill team if that isn't handled correctly.

I hate the term "treadmill team." Only one team can win and there's very little parity in the NBA. If we're looking at history, every playoff team besides the Spurs, Lakers, and Heat have been on the treadmill in the past 10 years.
Stupid term. Stupid concept.

Re: Have We Become a "Treadmill Team"
Not even close. A treadmill team is what you'd classify a team like say New Orleans is: they're too good to end up in the bottom of the lottery but they're not good enough that they can be considered a contender.
I'd argue that treadmill teams used to be more prevalent when contracts ran five or six years but with contracts running just five years at max and most four years or less, with the ability to stretch waive players for a very low cap hit spread out over multiple yearsd years, and with that 2016 year looming where the league will essentially reset, no, not a treadmill team.

Re: Have We Become a "Treadmill Team"
Honestly, we need to figure out how to keep players healthy. Perhaps that means parting way with some of them.
It's not a coincidence that pau stays healthy and he's one of the oldest fuys on the team. The dude has good genetics for a big guy. Noah has issues. Mdj does. Now Kirk is breaking down. Tah has glass ankles. Noah bad knees. It's
Obvious we need to move these guys because they can't stau healthy. Does nobody any good.
We won't have the team chemistry going in order to make a playoff run imho. I want to be hopeful. But rose return won't be enough. Cleveland has had the whole 2ns half to get better. There on another level then we are.
I like developing snell. He has a good build and hes young enough to stay healthy a along time. Butler and niko good genetics. Love the way they play with their bodies.

This is kind of how I feel. We cannot overpay Rose and Noah if they continue to be a shell of their former selves. Also, Snell continuing to improve along with hopefully McDermott getting better will be crucial for long term success.

Treadmill team is no longer such a big slight. Can always follow Atlanta's path from treadmill to contender. They shattered the old canard that you need to tank or land a superstar to get off.
If they fire Thibs, we probably will end up one though.

This is true with the Hawks, but at the same time they have more financial flexibility than the Bulls do with what Rose makes.

Plus if Butler gets the max, plus however much Noah gets (hopefully he takes a hometown discount and his market value isn't absurd).

You are awesome.
But as Duck alluded to, the Bulls, oh I'm sorry, we are the Clippers (who knew?), do use treadmills.
