eric gordon has a playeroption worth apx 16mil, no way is he opting out of that contract.

oh, hell no. he'd be a moron to leave $16m on the table. NO has their lead guard for another year.

Player option for this upcoming year. He is a place holder and basically a 15M expiring contract. What that does for us is it frees up cap space for 2016 and gives us a better fit-piece for this season. Gordon for 15.5 M might be a better investment than Calderon for 7. We don't have the luxury of spending on a big cap and we don't need a great point guard.
Asik
Towns
Melo
Gordon
Galloway

is possible.

Obviously if we can sell Marc Gasol or LaMarcus Aldridge on NY, we do that, but considering pretty much every RFA is on a team that can afford to overpay them rather than lose them for nothing and Danny Green plays in Texas where we would have to overpay twice (once to go over what the Spurs offer since he would probably prefer to re-sign there if the money is even and twice to beat the Texas to New York tax conversion), then who would you suggest we get instead of Afflalo?

Why instead? Ill take Affalo
But phil please dont blow this precious cap space that you sold us on for the past 18 months on resiging Shved, Bargnani and Cole Adrich.

Keeping in mind that the open market always determines a higher value than expected for free agents AND the cap raise in 2016 means people will spend more than usual even:

Greg Monroe is going to come at a starting salary around $13.5-14 Million, let's go low and say $13.5 Million.
Arron Afflalo will likely be around a starting salary of $9-10 Million, let's go low and say $9 Million.

Who are you signing for that additional $3.5 Million of remaining cap space that's better than Shved?

Cole Aldrich re-signs for the minimum which doesn't affect our cap space and I have Bargnani as a bench big to fill out the roster with a stretch big man for our around $2.5 Million cap MLE.

I don't really see many better options out there for us with the cap MLE and $3.5 Million in cap space after signing Monroe and Afflalo.

Cole and Bargyani are useless no way Phil signs them

Anyone else still have Paul Millsap as their second option after Gasol? It looks me like he's the forgotten man, and I wonder if the Hawks are confident enough to replace him with a lesser option/lotto pick.

Anyone curious about a Calderon for Lance +2nd swap? FWIW Lance only has 9 mil owed to him and then a team option for the following season. I've never been a huge Lance fan, but it seems like a low risk high reward move if they wait until they see what they can do in FA first.

I would consider it if Charlotte attaches a future first with him. Lance is talented but a head case and doesn't fit in with the Hornets. I liken it to when the Clippers wanted Baron Davis gone and trade him and a first for Mo Williams from the Cavs, who ironically the pick ended up being Kyrie Irving. Now I don't picture it being unprotected but a first will have to be thrown in as a sweetener especially considering again Lance being a headcase.

Clippers wanted Davis gone because that jackass Sterling would sit on the floor cursing and called Davis lazy and fat during the games so I'm not sure if it's really the same situation. If they were a team that would basically be guaranteed a late 1st maybe, but Charlotte looks to be a constant 15-20 pick team so I doubt they'd do that.

True but their coach seems to not want to play Lance. I think if you threw in Tim Jr. They might trade a protected first. They get rid of Lance like they want to and they get a decent young player in return and we get a first round pick and a talented but headcase of a player. And like you said they may not want to trade a first and if they don't I wouldn't make the trade. Only way I make that trade is getting a future first involved.

Calderon is not wroth just the 1st around pick...and Lance is not a negative asset...

Davis had 28 mill(?) owed to him over the next two seasons. Lance is an expiring (team option on 3rd year). They're not attaching a pick. By trading for him, the Knicks would save money in 2016. It'd be well worth it to do a 1-1 swap, but it's not gonna happen because Lance has more value than Calderon.

we pick Lopez at what price? 16 m hell no. All of sudden Lopez is playing decent ball so? what was he doing all year, last year? there is no guarantees he will play ball once he get big fat contract from us. Look at the past 15 years only all stars who switched teams are the ones who have done well

Knicks need size badly. Throwing the max at Deandre Jordan, while not an ideal fit for the triangle, would at least solidify the front court.

Things on my wishlist

Koufus - 7-8 mil
Danny Green - 7-8 mil
Beverly 5-6 mil
Gerald Greene - 4-5 mil
Ed Davis 4-5 mil
Trade for Jennings and get an asset for it
Trade for Stephenson and get an asset for it
Trade for Gibson
Trade for Holiday
Trade for Anderson
Trade Calderon

Can't do all of these obviously but am hoping 3-4 of these happen. My top wishes are signing Green and Koufos and trading for Gibson

About Lance: Indy reportedly asked for two 1st rounders to take him back.

Lance stock right now is probably below than where JR's was. This guy is getting DNPs and teams will want compensation for taking on a "cancer". Maybe MJ and Phil can get something done for a future protected 1st and a this years 2nd rd pick.

the ideal situation for me is that we see both Port and Mem get knocked out in the first round
Melo gets a verbal from Gasol and LMA to take 1 year deals at 13 each

we get a # 2 pick and swap with Phili - pick and Calderon to Phili for #4 and #6 or #5 and #7
we draft WCS and Winslow or we go for Hezonja and Kaminsky if thats where were picking

fantasy option #2

We draft Russell or Mudiay at 3
we max cat both Jordan and Dray Green
we trade Hardaway and Early for Lance Stevenson somehow

more realistic option

we draft Mudiay or Russell and sign Milsap and Monroe
were better but a long way off still
