Who are your favorites in the Suns Organization?

Post#1 » by Puff » Tue Mar 31, 2015 1:26 am

I think we are all or have been Suns fans for quite a while. I can put up with losing if it is fun but it is becoming harder and harder watch these guys. I will give my quick evaluations From the top down.

Robert Sarver - Has really not done much good after the signing of Steve Nash. We have basically gone downhill since. Not a well liked owner in many circles. I am not a fan. A sale of the franchise while unrealistic at this point would be welcomed. Why does he still have Lon Babby as team President?

Lon Babby - Has the Charisma of a grape. He might be a good attorney but I would fire him as President of Basketball, yesterday.

McDonough - He has assembled one of the most unlikeable teams in the history of sports. He is supposed to be a genius, he has a lot to prove.

Hornacek - I want to like him but I hate the style we play and he is the one that has to make the changes. I am no convinced he is capable of getting the job done. He and we can blame the players but other coaches get fired when their teams are as undisciplined as we are.

Players

Alex Len - I want him to get better and I hope he does but he as no personality at this point. I hope he blossoms into a star, I have my doubts.
Markieff - I actually like his game on most night but he is not a likeable player at this point. He always seems mad about something.
Marcus - Inconsistent at best and not very likeable.
Tucker - Works hard on most night but has no personality. I really do not know who he is.
Bledsoe - He thinks he is better than he is and appears to have zero leadership qualities.
Knight - I hope he is not part of the team next year. I do not like his game at all.
Wright - I cannot figure him out and I would not break the bank to resign him either.
Goodwin - I really don't know him but it appears he thinks he is better than he really is. I would keep him at least another year.
Warren - I really like his game but do not know him. He is definitely a keeper going forward.
Green - Probably my favorite player on the current roster even though he quite possibly has had the worst season. I like his attitude and is fun to watch while frustrating as hell. Probably will be gone at the end of the season.

Basically we are a team without a leader in the locker room. Maybe we can find one this off season. We need one in the worst way.

Who is your favorite player on todays roster?

The guys we traded at the deadline.

Goran - I agreed with moving him based on his demands but he was one of my favorites and certainly a fan favorite. He was good on the court and with the press. He is missed in many ways. He could have been a team leader but never took command. I don't know if that was him or the apparent problems in the locker room. I expect he is happy as hell to be in Miami.
Thomas - He was fun to watch and always put on a show. I do not miss his play that much but he was exciting to watch. He is missed at this point but can be replaced, I think. He has the personality to be a team leader.

Maybe it is just the losing that is causing my issues and the apparent player issues but we definitely are not a fun team to support at this point. We made a lot of changes at the deadline and we appear to have gotten worse on the court and I expect we are in store for many more changes this off season. I hope our management can put together a better product for next season but at this point I have serious doubts.

Jerry Colangelo
Steve Nash
Mike D'Antoni
Paul Westphaul
Kevin Johnson
Charles Barkley
Shawn Marion

Oh....wait...I guess the glory days are dead and have been dead for quite some time.

Our owner is a clown, our star player is a mini-Lebron flopper, and our GM got horse **** at the trade deadline.

Sarver - F U!!!
Hornacek - i have grown a distaste towards him.
Babby - I dont even have an opinion of?? what is his job exactly.....he has nothing to do with roster/contract decisons right??
McDonough - Hated the Knight trade (giving up the Lakers pick was SO DUMB) and hated the IT signing....i still want him to stay and completely back him...he needs to show he can construct a proper team that fits....not just collecting assets

Len - like him, has alot of potential. He stays
Bledsoe - Dont love him, dont hate him yet. he can still put it together...he stays for now
Knight - Hated the trade, he has to go - especially at the price he will command - he must go
keiff/marcus - Just massive D bags, keiff is a talented scorer. Keiff is a perfect 6th man. Marcus can go.
Tucker - I like, he can stay or go. Wont have a big impact on the future on the franchise.
Warren/Goodwin - they need playing time so we can see what they are and what they can do...they stay
Green - yuck....he can go
Wright - He can stay. but dont break the bank or he can go.
Bullock - stay i guess, seen nothing of him

Do we have anyone rated top 10 (top 33% in NBA) at their job? There's like 25 of them, players and staff and FO, so 1 or 2 would be nice.

My favourites would be Alex Len and T.J Warren, as they're the hope for the future.

I loved Ryan McDonough up until a few months ago. He's approached things the right way, and said all the right things, but found it hard to carry out his blueprint in reality. I hope he takes a selfless approach in off-season, that would vindicate things for him. If he makes moves that admit mistakes, might not make him look like a genius, but makes us a better team, that's what I'm looking for.

Hornacek, still think he did amazing to win 48 games in his first season without Bledsoe for most of it. Not sure what's gone wrong. He has his flaws, but think he's doing what he knows, and that's why the FO appointed him, to play fast basketball with lots of shooters.

I agree with pretty much all your comments, though I like Hornacek for the most part (though I do question some decisions but who doesn't?) and I think he is a good coach with a team that either keeps changing parts, or doesn't fit together really well, or has low iqs. The only other disagreement I have is Knight. While I haven't liked his game much on the Suns yet, I did like his game with the Bucks, and I think he just hadn't meshed with the team much before the injury. I certainly don't hope he's gone...we at least need to retain him as a trade asset, but a S&T if someone wants him in that sort of deal would be fine if we get something worthy in return.

I do like Warren EASILY the best, and then Len. Other than that, I like Goodwin, but I am not nearly as high on him as many are, though I have hopes...I REALLY hope he can develop a shot with range. I have high hopes for Bullock too.

I think Kieff is really good, and he would normally be a keeper, and his bro is often really good too, but they would be PERFECT bench guys....as starters we are probably a fringe playoff team.

I think if you got a Kevin Love type PF (not necessarily saying him but a guy who COULD stretch and hit 3s since Warren operates a little better at shorter range, but also is a GREAT rebounder) would be perfect along with Warren, and a disruptive center. I think if you had a smart distributor/good shooter at pg, a good long range shooter at the 2 (Bullock? Can Goodwin add that?), Warren, Love type PF, Len with the twins and whoever else we had in a couple years off the bench, that could be a solid team.

Bledsoe - I have no real quarrel with him. I recognize and accept the fact that he is not a superstar, and almost certainly never will be. This is why he is paid 14 mil a year instead of the max. A little inconsistent, but solid bang for the buck. Instead of replacing him, I'd like to limit his minutes going forward. I'd rather not be playing him 40 minutes a night. He's carrying a lot of muscle, and plays solid defense (most of the time), so he wears out kind of quickly and when he's tired he's extra prone to doing dumb ****. I think as other people improve around him on both ends, he'll begin to look better as well. I like that he's been essentially the leader of the team since the deadline, even if he's quiet. He seems to be helping guys like the Morris twins and Tucker relax a little. Those guys chirped like crazy when they took their cues from IT, when they take their cues from Bledsoe they're a little more relaxed.

Tucker - I admire the intensity with which he plays, I like the hard on ball defense, I like the rebounding, but I'm just not a fan. Having him in the lineup against good teams is just such a liability since it's way too easy to hide scrubs on him and stick wing defenders on the PG. Plus, he gets lost off ball a lot (although, not so much since the trade deadline - he's been pretty mentally locked in, I'll give him that). It'd be cool if he was coming off the bench.

Marcus Morris - I hate when he has to play backup power forward and guard bigs because it's always terrible, but I like Marcus on the wing. Not bad when defending wing players, has shown a definite willingness to pass the ball since the trade deadline (he's assisted on a lot of Warren's baskets - so has his brother). Outrageous bargain contract. He makes less than the current mid-level exception. He makes less than Nick Young, for Christ's sake. Maybe a little shaky in a starting role, but definitely good in a bench role. Shouldn't be traded unless the package is really, really good. Moving the Morris twins just for the sake of moving them would be a mistake. I know they aren't well liked on this board, but I would be really pissed if we just gave them away for nothing.

Markieff Morris - I like him. I'd like to see him play less in the post and get involved in the screen game more often. Same as his brother with the contract and being an elite bench guy and an acceptable starter.

Len - I believed in him last year, I believe in him this year, too. Not really impacting games like he was in the middle of the season after those ankle injuries, but he's still putting in work out there.

Knight - Not a fan so far. I don't think he's equipped to take Tucker's spot in the starting lineup. Ideally, he'd be the backup PG on this roster to keep Bledsoe's minutes down and they'd only play alongside each other for a few minutes a game. I haven't liked him playing SG at all at this point. I've liked his shots when he catches it for a spot up jumper, and I've really liked his playmaking, but man does he take a lot of truly baffling shots. I feel like he's getting too many minutes that he hasn't earned yet, though.

Warren - I was wrong about him, he looks much better now that he's getting into the paint and not chucking it as soon as he touches it. Still has work to do with defensive rebounding and defense but he looks leagues better than he did at the start of the year. I did not see this level of improvement coming just in his rookie season. Scoring's easy for him, I'll be curious to see what else he can add.

Goodwin - Pretty cool. Happy to see him keep improving, even if it's incremental. Doesn't have the handle to initiate the offense though, can't wait till we fix the point guard situation and he stops getting crushed by ball pressure and can do his own thing again.

Bullock - cool trade piece. Needs to have an amazing offseason if he wants to crack the rotation. From limited minutes that I saw on the Clippers and with the Suns, he seems to have a good idea of what to do (on both ends), he just can't score the basketball to save his life.

Wright - He's...ok. Need a lot more big man depth than just him, though. I'd like to re-sign him, but if we're talking more than 7-9 mil...pass.

Green - I didn't like him last year when he did cool ****, so I hate the crap out of him now that he sucks. Get outta here.

Overall, I like a lot of the players, but I wouldn't hesitate to trade most of them if the right deal was there. Wouldn't really shed tears over trading any of these guys for an upgrade (although I do like the Morris twins more than most, I will admit).

Currently missing:

a backup PG with Knight injured, but when he's back and you can have one of Bled or Knight on the court at all times, that's cool. Still need a third string guy. There's always an Ish Smith or DJ Augustin type floating around in free agency for the vet min - wouldn't mind going that route to have an emergency guy in case of injury who can be a DNP the rest of the time. Would also consider drafting a PG in the second round if there's a guy mocked to go high who falls way too far, like Jordan Clarkson with the Lakers. Could stash him in the D-League.

Big man depth at both positions. Need some big, long, mean boys who bang in the paint and get rebounds. We're really soft to the Z-Bos of the world right now.

Knockdown shooters - lacking that JJ Redick, Rip Hamilton, Ray Allen guy who can catch it coming off a screen and fire. Shooting is essential in today's NBA and a lot of our guys couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.

Overall, I think the Suns should be aggressive about upgrading every position, but I like the guys here enough that I wouldn't throw any of them away in bad trades.

T.J. Warren is my favourite player by far in this squad. And he is my only untouchable.
I want on our future's team humble/hard workers and players with great IQ. Some real shooters too.

Danny Green, for example, can be a big addition.

Warren - he is not a typical Suns players, actually moves around, cuts to the basket and takes high percentage shots. Does not just park behind the 3-point line and jack up threes and long twos.

Green - my other favorite is the opposite of TJ lol, he can be really explosive and exciting when his game is on. Sometimes I'm frustrated at Horny when the team is struggling to make shots, take a chance with Green! If he jacks it up and bricking it, he can easily just pull him out.

Wright, the perfect back up center, athletic and long, no ego

Len - great defender and rebounder

The ones that aren't on our team yet, like Lebron and Anthony Davis.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

You know technical fouls aren't that big of a deal? Getting beat backdoor is a worse offence and there's really no stat for that.

Horny: Likeable guy, but think he's in a bit over his head. I want to see assistants replaced. He needs more disciplinarian assistants to cover up his weaknesses. I would give him until All-Star break next season to see if it is heading in the right direction. Otherwise I would go in another one.

Tucker: Needs to mature (late for the bus, social media whining/outbursts) but think he can be a great sixth man for several years. Love the effort, defense and rebounding.

Bledsoe: Completely on the fence. Not sure about how much he cares about winning. Sometimes he seems super passionate and other times he seems to lack effort or check out.

Knight: Unless we really feel he can become our point guard, I don't see a long-term place for him. Would like to sign-and-trade if he can't be a point guard.

Archie: Feel pretty good about him. Still needs work but has a good upside. A dark horse for future leader.

TJ: Super high on him. Could be the primary guy on offense very soon. Want to see him starting next year.

Wright: If we can develop a system that fits to his talents, I think he can be a huge part of the future. He is one of the most efficient players in the league over the last few years.

Len: If he doesn't Yao Ming himself I think he can be a top 10 center very soon. Seems to be very zoned in and passionate.

Morrii: Please trade. I know they are good iso offensive guys but I think we can replace their production with a real system that utilizes TJ, Wright, Archie and ball movement. Rebounding, defense and attitude don't do it for me. I think they are F.A.U.X. leaders and getting in the way of better leaders stepping up.

Green: Don't want to abandon him yet if we can get him for cheap and he is okay with very limited minutes/cheerleading until he gets out of this slump. He had a great year last year.

Bullock: Undecided. If he shows consistent defense and three point shooting, probably a valuable backup.

Earl: I guess keep him around if we can't find a better backup big.

Granger: No clue.

Strange guy from last night: He made a shot against Curry so that's pretty good.

Thornton: Probably no.

Whoever we draft this year: Greatest player on earth until he becomes a starter.

Gorilla: Iconic but can be a bit of an a**hole in person.

Favs:

TJ: Head down, all work no talk. Old school game and fun to watch.

Len: Again, no fuss. Love his aggression, love his growth. Love him.

Archie: Determined as anyone, has unreal potential, just needs a better (more mature) group of players around him

Babby: He says everything right, is happy to admit his mistakes and has made more good decisions than bad ones lately.

Green: Love him so much. Doesn't complain EVER. EVER. That is amazing. Loyal. Says all the right things.

Wright: High IQ. I reckon he has the potential to fill the leadership void of Channing Frye. Great game, efficient as anything.

Knight: Love his attitude, work ethic, everything I've heard about him. His game will come when he actually finds his feet. Really think he and Bled can and will work.

Horny: Still has a lot of work to do to become a good coach. That will come with experience. Must be more disciplined with the team. Runs an amazing offense. Definitely the guy for the future.

Not giving up on:

Bled: Questionable attitude, veryyy talented. I do believe his heart is in Phoenix, which is nice. Same as Archie, I think he needs a fresh start in Phoenix to grow.

McD: Don't like his obsession with assets and frankly his blatant ignorance of the leadership void. Don't like that he didn't ship the Morrii to Chicago.

PJ: Never thought I could forgive him after his Super Extreme f- up. But on the court he is a bull, and brings intensity that the rest of the team must model.

I wont watch another Suns game until they're gone:

Morrii: Princesses. Self- obsessed. Immature. Cancer. Need I say more?
