How good are these prospects? Anyone know? I'll reserve judgement until I find out. We get rid of the mistake that ended Frank Wren, and get the 42nd pick in the draft. We now have 4 picks in the top 54 of the draft, and get some speed in Maybin. If we could get Quentin back to being what he was before the injuries, that would be big. But man, no more releasing the Kimbrel

So Braves DFA Quentin, Braves get high level pitching prospect, 1st rd pick, low level OF prospect and rid BJ's contract for Kimbrel. Pads get Justin Upton and Kimbrel from us, yet we don't get a high level OF prospect. I would have told them they need to include Austin Renfroe or Rymer Liriano or top catching prospect Austin Hedges. Pads definitely got the best of both trades.

The minor league OFer they got sounds way underrated. Not a terrible trade but... I woulda thought they could have gotten more if they waited and traded him to the Nats. Mayin pretty much has to come through - or Hard looks foolish.

Hart needs to come out and say the team's rebuilding. This is going to be a 96 loss team this year.

I dont like this trade at all, we just traded the best relief pitcher in the MLB to dump BJ. Its not like Upton or Jason who are soon to be FA"s Kimbrel is under contract a few more seasons.

We did dump Melvin, but what decides the winner of this trade will be how good Wisler becomes and what we do with that added money. Wisler has number 2 pitcher potential, and if he can reach it (IF) then we'll be alright.

Melvin's contract was that bad. I think people seem to gloss over that fact. 3 years and 46 million left for a guy who is a mendoza line hitter and whose so almost double his hits.
I get it with Kimbrell. He is still young and salary isn't horrible (especially for what he brings). But the opening of salary, especially with our current ownership, is extremely valuable.
We all know we are rebuilding as does everyone else.
