Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Biz is probably our third most important player moving forward (behind MKG and Kemba). If it's true that nobody has picked up on this, then GMs really do turn a blind eye on most of our players, because Biz has done twice as much as Asik had done for Chicago before Houston signed him to 3/25.

Worth noting: Biz did not meet the "starter criteria" the past two seasons. As indicated in the CBA, lottery picks that fail to meet the criteria have their qualifying tender reduced to that of the 15th pick. In this case, $4,045,894. We'd be insane to let Biz go for that.

Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
Zach Lowe is a closet fan of our team. Why else would he go out of his way several times to downplay Biyombo's value when the rest of the media hardly even notices our team? Lowe is good with numbers and I'm sure he's looked at Biyomobo's, he knows better.

Think you pointed this out a while ago and I completely agree. Locking Biz down on a cheap extended deal could be a windfall for us.

Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
We have to keep Biz and lock him up long term if we can get him this cheap. If teams think his worth is $4 million than go ahead and give him 4 for $24 to lock him up at a great price.

This is sadly indicative of what is perhaps Biyombo’s most damaging limitation: He cannot, or will not, pass. He has 19 assists combined over the last two seasons.

Good info

I'm sure we'll lock up MKG at some point this summer, so my biggest concern is making sure we do the same for Biz.

He gets 7.3 front court touches a game and 2.5 ORB so that is less than 5 chances to get an assist a game. Take out his 2.8 shots per game and we are talking about 2 times a game where he gets the ball on the offensive end and passes it. I am not surprised the numbers are low. I would never have guessed that low though.

Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
MKG will probably have to override his agent to sign an extension this summer. He's going to take another leap next season so it's to his benefit to wait until next summer. God bless him if he does extend this year, he'll be giving up money to do so in my opinion. Security is important though and you never know what tomorrow will bring, so at the very least we should give him a strong offer to make him think about it.
I have a bad feeling that I'm going to be mad with how Biyombo's situation plays out, so hopefully we'll extend MKG to a good offer to make up for it.

That last sentence is what might swing his agent the other direction (I hope). If MKG tears an ACL next December he's getting peanuts. Who is paying big money in the modern NBA for a wing who can't shoot and has questionable wheels? Add to that the general underestimation of MKG around the league. I'm not saying it will go that way, but I wouldn't be shocked if his agent said "Mike, you get hurt a lot, let's face facts. If you pass up $60 million this summer it won't be there next summer if you're on IR."
I think if we offer MKG something like $15 million a year he takes the deal. Highest paid on the team and I doubt any other team offers more. He's honestly worth it right now in terms of how much he means to our success, and as the cap rises it will be an outright bargain down the road.

I have never seen a fan base so ready and happy to throw money at their free agents.

I started reading and thought, great, Zach Lowe's letting the cat out of the bag, now everyone will want Biz and we'll never resign him. Then I finished reading and thought, what GM would sign this guy? Ha ha! Thanks Zach! Bring Back Biz!

If buy "throw money" you mean agree to a long term deal that will equal like 5% of the cap for a 22 year old elite defender, then sure.

A lot thought Hendo could and should get close the Derozan money and wanted to give him about 10M. MKG will get something like 10-12M if he has a good summer, if not I can see him getting lowballed around 8M and prolly opting for RFA although I wouldn't recommend it with his injury proneness. I can't wait to hear the Zeller should get close to the max conversations.

Don't forget lance too. It's like are you a fan of the players or the team? I am happy if these players are being undervalue in free agency. That only means my team won't be over paying for any of them. Cap space is very precious and should be handled carefully.

what do you think you'd offer?
I personally think he'd be a great fit for you, but I hope to retain Biz at all costs as our starting center next year.

I'd much, much rather have him then draft a freaking center at 9 like Fowler suggested. Give me a break. I'm not even a huge Biyombo fan, but extend him and get some freaking shooting at 9, or trade it, trade down, do whatever it takes to get shooting.

Re: #BringBacktheBiz - The Bismack Biyombo Thread
This team is so devoid of shooting that it would have to take more than another Vonleh-like scenario for us not to draft a wing. Seriously, the only way this team drafts a big is if we luck into Towns or Okafor somehow, and I don't even like Okafor. I don't mind drafting big with our 2nd rounder but even then, we need all the help we can get on the perimeter, plus it's unlikely we even keep our 2nd rounder if history repeats itself.Liver_Pooty wrote:I'd much, much rather have him then draft a freaking center at 9 like Fowler suggested.
