Re: THE Aaron Gordon thread
Hey guys, sixers fan here. Always liked Aaron Gordon, saw a bunch of him in college but havent really been able to watch or keep track of him due to his early injury and what not. In college you obviously see the potential, athleticism, and defense but everyone was worried about his shot, his offense, and the fact that he was a tweener. Question is, when you guys envision your starting five in about 2 years, is he starting at the Three or the Four? Some other random inquires: Is he developing as expected (offensively and defensivly?), Does he have a handle (enough to play the three and take some on off the dribble), and looking back besides Elfrid, is there anyone else from that 4-15 range you would have drafted ahead of Gordon? (i thought for sure you guys would grab exum and gordon would go around 6 or 7).

His defense is unfrickenbelievable, half the time I watch him contend shots the opposing player (if he doesn't bail out and pass) clanks it off the side of the back board. It's insane how good of a perimeter defender he is.
you think his perimeter defense is good now, just wait until he bulks up and moves to the 4. oh, man.

4-15 I like Aaron the most from last years draft, I think what we did was brilliant (no homer) Elfrid will end up being a top 5 pick in a 2014 re-draft and Aaron has the most upside. I really see him as a 3 right now, he plays face up, has a very nice shooting form that is better than advertised and plays insane perimeter defense.

Can Payton-Oladipo-Gordon trio work? I assume either Gordon gets moved to PF or Orlando trades one of the 3.

He's Shane Battier on steroids IMO.

Could it work in obliterating opposing teams? Duh
The future is bright

I would have said a 4 when we drafted him, probably because of all the Griffin comparisons. But now I see him as a hybrid that can easily play the 3. Maybe a Shawn Marion type.
Some other random inquires: Is he developing as expected (offensively and defensivly?),Does he have a handle (enough to play the three and take some on off the dribble),
Defensivley yes. Offensivley, not yet. Although FTs are improving. But that is because he lost a lot of time from an injury. He has some handles IMO. I think he can easily develop it.

Some guys say yes, but dont say who they would draft. I like Gordon, and I would pick him again.

interesting. Ive seen Gordon shoot 3 ptrs better than 2 ptrs. and he is a rookie. how about letting them, you know, develop?

I think Gordon will be a better shooter when he hits his 20s. Those teenage years are so funky.

Since when is 30% better than 48%? He's clearly better inside the 3 line than outside.

talking more outside the key shots vs 3 pt. 5-23 vs 12-40

No joke he is one of the best perimeter defenders I've ever seen. Not only that but enjoys defense.

It is pretty darn impressive to see someone cover a point guard off of a tough screen at 6'9"... match them step by step and force them to pass back out. The guy is crazy good. Oh yeah... and that tyler zeller block... haha... poor guy... demoralized

I don't care what everyone says about Payton and Oladipo, I love them both but Gordon's the guy I'm most excited to see down the line.

Re: THE Aaron Gordon thread
I see him as a role player until he finds a jumpshot, but what irritates me is how we are such an awful team and he is not getting more minutes he needs experience so he can get better
also the coaches just spot him in the corner and nobody defends him, magic are poorly coached
we will never go anywhere playing payton/gordon/dipo together until all 3 shoot better, makes orlando to easy to defend

aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.
