In the last two games most of Gordon-A's minutes have come at the SF slot. In the coming off-season either Gordon-A will work on his outside shot to transition to a primary SF or he will work on his upper-body strength to transition to a primary PF. We will learn a lot about what the Magic plan for him some October.
One thing that seems apparent if that Gordon-A has a capacity to guard all five positions. That defensive versatility allows him to be positionless.

Don't forget AG is very young, he could end up growing an inch or two over the summer like Harkless did possibly. Then he'd be 6"10, put on some weight get to about 235 he should be fine at PF with that.

AG has the frame to bulk up and put on weight so I don't see that being an issue especially as it already seems like he keeps fit, his older brother looks a bit sloppier.
If DG can be successful at his height I do not see height being a concern for AG especially with how high his no step vert is.

Re: THE Aaron Gordon thread
I think AG will be fine at PF, he would be quicker than most at that position and there isn't too many traditional back to the basket PF's in the league these days anyway. This dude is a phenomenal defender at the ripe old age of 19, he can only get better and next summer we're going to see vast improvements. I mean look how much he has improved since how lost he looked at summer league? He said this summer is going to be big for him, he's going off the grid to work on his game and body. Can't wait until next season

The thing I love most about Gordon, is that I believe that very soon he will be a lockdown defender at both SF and PF and a capable defender of PGs, SGs and Cs in those situations where our defense gets scrambled and out of position.

Re: THE Aaron Gordon thread
It's weird man i think he's probably a better passer than Dipo and a better ball handler than Harris(by far) and probably already the best defender on the team. So versatile, i'm interested to see where the FO wants to go with AG, thing is though i think having a coach in place sooner rather than later will help him even more. Actually Billy Donovan has coached him before(Team USA), had an uptempo offense which AG himself said is tailor made for his style of play. Well either way only time will tell

I dunno about Donovan but I'm glad someone else has pointed out AGs passing ability and handles. I know its against lesser competition but I've seen him do insane passes and dribble moves on YouTube. The imagination and creativity is there as well as his timing. With more adjustment to the league, I truly see his point forward skills coming to fruition. He's gonna be a freak!
The future is bright

Aaron, and its not even close. AG's game is far more versatile than what he's already displayed thus far.

Are we so desperate for a defensive PF that we're willing to sacrifice AG's development by turning him into something he isn't?

Aaron Gordon will either be a Kawhi Leonard Mold or a Point Forward Scotty Pippin Mold
I too don't see him as a Full time PF
If you place him at PF you take away his Advantages. Other than probably being the fastest PF of all time. Hes just as fast if not faster than Elfrid in a straight line sprint.

Same. I always envisioned him at SF. PF part time...? sure. I don't care how much his body matures, he's not gonna grow tree trunks. His base is going to be light, which is good because it allows him to keep his explosion. Much like Dwight. He was never gonna end up with legs like a heavy set Center. If he did, he wouldn't be as good of a shot blocker. On the flip side, guys like Kendrick Perkins who could hold their position, could defend him because he would have to work around them rather than through them. Gordon would struggle verse ZBo, Aldridge, Millsap, Horford, Griffin, Gasol, Jefferson, Duncan, etc if he played PF full time.
If we want AG to be dominant, we need him to improve his shooting. Period. His body will mature and I'm sure he'll be a chiseled specimen before all is said and done. They always say... "You are according to the position you can defend". Regardless of your offensive skillset, I believe that is true. AG can be a good defender 1-4, but he can be dominant defending 3s. He's quick, explosive, long, smart and has the heart for it.

Re: THE Aaron Gordon thread
With AG's strong finish, I think we're even more likely to see Tobias move on this summer. Whether that's through a s&t or not, who knows. But AG is ready for an increased role, and we've also still got Fournier to help share some minutes at the 3 with him.
Either that, or, Tobias comes back as a PF.
I actually looked at all the boxscores for our wins against teams over .500 this season, and the biggest standout was Tobias' defense. In those games he averaged 3 blocks, 2 steals and 9 rebounds per game. If he can get paid and then come back and apply himself to defense, there's still a chance we could make our current squad work.

None of the 3 should be traded. Let Harris go.

Against the Bulls:
Harris 2-13 for 8 points
Gordon-A 2-3 for 7 points.
One was in his game the other was not.
Gordon-A looks to be being groomed for the SF slot. Harris nay place on this team would be off of the bench; GM Hennigan cannot be in a position to out-line nearly 60M for a bench player.

Re: THE Aaron Gordon thread
I really just think that this team works 100 times better with someone like AG at SF than someone like Tobias at SF. We don't need someone to create at this spot right now, we need a glue guy, someone who is versatile and can play D, pass, rebound, run, dive on loose balls. I would much prefer to see someone like Vic/Elf with the ball trying to create than Tobias.

Elfrid, VO, AG, Harris, Vuc
Harris has had some big games at the 4 he's a good rebounder and can stretch the floor. His defense looks better against 4's with his added strength than it does against faster 3's and AG can always switch up to guard who ever Harris has trouble with
